Akra price

Yes; prices are very high compared to other stuff and I don't like the "Ducati tax" either; however, there are some things to consider:
  1. If you are quoting CDN$, remember the CDN$ is in the toilet (US$0.71) and likely to get worse as the price of oil drops; and,
  2. Fixed costs like R&D and capital costs have to be returned with a fair profit and if there are not that many bikes sold, then compenent manufacturers for a given model have to price so that they get a return from their expected sales, which are likely to be very few for bikes like the Panigale
The relative rarity of the bike is some of the reason why the costs of some things that are very specific to the model are very expensive, particularly items that require a lot of R&D, such as exhausts, while those with relatively cheap fixed costs (body work) are only marginally more expensive.
That said, I have no desire to purchase Ducati Performance Accessories, since, on top of everything else, they are allocating significant value (margin for them) to the brand.

I'm curious what exhaust comes on the 2015/2016 Panigale R. I know its an Akra system but is it the Evo headers and some other Akra titanium mufflers? I thought the Akra Evo system eliminated the exhaust valve? From what I can tell the exhaust valve is still installed on the R. You can only buy the slip-ons from DP (for the R) which like Chaotic said earlier is a complete rip off at $3800 list price but, like jarelj also said you'll get an up-map with the slip-ons if you buy the DP. I would say for $3800 for the DP Akra slip-ons you'd be better off buying the complete Akra Evo system from where doubleo suggested and then buying a Rapid Bike and getting the bike tuned.

Anyone else notice the shipment time from that Italian site?

Estimated delivery date: 11/01/2016

I tried to place an order with them, using my Visa. It got rejected because my card isn't secure (or something). So I placed another order to try paying with a wire transfer and haven't heard anything back. Been a week or so...

I gave up and ordered from Motowheels. A little more expensive but I know motowheels is good and if I have any issues I won't have to speak italian or potentially ship a return to Italy.

+1 on dealing with MotoWheels. Those guys are good to deal with. Always willing to help you out.
