Akrapovic Baffle Screws

Anyone have any tips on swapping the baffles in and out? The baffle screw is not magnetic, and I'm worried about dropping the screw into the space between the pipe and the outer can. Getting it back in seems like even more of a crapshoot.

I installed the exhaust myself but took it to the dealer for the up-map, and they pulled the baffles out for me at the time. Now I want the baffles back in and have no idea how to get those screws in there without just dropping them into the exhaust.

Thinking about going to home depot and getting some stainless magnetic replacements...

I do that. Track without noise killers, road always. I dip the tool into vaseline grease when operating these in or out. Haven't dropped them yet.

Just today I arrived home from 3300km roadtrip. I'm either gonna make smaller diameter noise killer or change the pipe for the next trip. It is too loud for traveling. In Italy though, people were smiling like crazy with thumps up when they saw me... Few guys collected 600€/bike tickets from Switzerland driving with swapped cans. Lucky me, drove only about 150km there and did not meet any officers.

I hear ya. I did drop mine in the exhaust shroud, it wasn't fun to fish out. I ended up twisting some thread around the screw multiple times and pulling it tight against the Allen wrench until I got the screw started, then I pull the thread out. Done this three times now; saved me a lot of headaches. Take your time and be sure to get the thread tight against the washer. I'm sure wire would work as well.

I am, all my bikes and even lawn mover. I was stupid in the past and did some shooting without. Have had tinnitus more than 20years because of that. And Akra is so loud that everyone should wear earplugs.

Actually, I personally think that there is no helmet quiet enough to drive without ear plugs.

I agree, since riding full Akra (with dB-Killers!) I have to wear ear plugs! Otherwhise you'll get tinnitus sooner or later...

w/o killers, it's really too loud!

Switzerland has become a nightmare for bikes, not normal what's happening there...I don't go there any more.

I also wear earplugs, always. My 1299 akra without baffles is still not as loud as my S1000RR was with the shorty akra - that thing would really scream!

For everyone's info, I ended up going to the store and getting magnetic allen screw replacements, AND used the grease trick and was able to get them back in with no issues. Hopefully they stay in without the little crush washer thing...

I'll pull them back out for track days, they're just a little too loud without the baffles for riding around on the street. Baffles in sounds pretty good anyway, just slightly less roar.

Is it possible to load the up-map yourself or it can only be done by the dealer ??

For the 1199 the termis came with a "memory-stick" and you could easily load or unload the up-map. I hope this is the case with the Akra.

The dealership, my own internet research, and the little card included with the stick all indicated that DDS was required for the install and it had to be done at the dealer.

Well, back to your original question. .......!Whenever I am working on something and there is a chance of dropping a screw etc. I try to stuff a wrap or towel etc underneath so the screw won't fall down where it shouldn't ..if I was trying to screw in a baffle inside a pipe I would try stuffing some cotton swabs (with a wire attached so I could retrieve it when I am done. )If you drop a screw you can simply pull the wading out and it will take the screw with it.
Kinda plug the hole like a tampon. Pull it out when you are finished.
