1299 no electrical power, completely dead!

It's why I'm thinking the earth point first. These bikes can shake bolts loose and in immediate loss of power without a blown fuse might occur if the main earth point disconnects. I'd still think that even a fried ECU would show some signs of life due to the Trinity of dash, bbs, and ECU

Thanks again Disco, as I said it’ll be Thursday before I get to check it out and I’ll let you know how I get on, thanks

Yeah on startup it comes up racing, just very strange, would it be normal if a battery was dead for the bike to cut out mid ride?

Possibly. If the battery was on its way out it may not take a charge. Could also check the stator/rectifier to make sure it’s charging properly. But I’d start w a new OEM battery (it’s at least 4 yrs old) and double check that ground like Disco said.

No joy I’m afraid folks, starting to think it could be immobiliser related, anyway mechanic picked it up this evening so I’ll see what happens. I’ve 4 months left on the warranty with Ducati so if it’s anything major it’ll be back to them

No nothing? As mentioned, inspect the chassis ground connection below the battery box. Also, check the starter relay connections and fuse, which if similar to the 1199, should be located on a mounting bracket just below the battery box. If the main fuse is blown, or the connections there are loose, you're dead in the water.

Did you check the black box? It's under the seat /tail section.

Thanks folks bike is still with Ducati, relay was blown for the ignition in the spade connector(was burnt) and there’s a fault in the ignition apparently. I went into Ducati on Tuesday to collect the bike thinking everything was sorted and they had it connected to a charger, they told me due to the fault on the ignition it’s causing a drain on the battery, the ignition isn’t fully disengaging when the key is turned off in the ignition so hence the battery is draining. So I asked so what now?? They said just leave it on charge 24/7, I said huh? That’s the solution?? They said someone must have tried to rob the bike, I argued saying not since I’ve owned it, it’s not possible(bike is parked at the side of my house under 2 motion sensor cameras, behind a locked gate and ground anchor) plus there’s no physical damage visible on the ignition. So anyway I refused to take the bike back and said there’s still 4 months warranty on the bike and it should be covered. (They were trying to charge €220 just to replace the relay!) they’ve applied to the warranty company which is in the uk but I have a feeling it’ll be rejected as they are adamant an attempted theft took place which wouldn’t be covered. It’s just unbelievable!

If they want to go down the theft route, then get that in writing with explanation and rationale for why they think it’s theft-related and let your insurance company know. Someone needs to pick up this tab and not you (from the sounds of it). I’d also have the dealer connect you with the Service Area Manager (SAM) for your region so that you can discuss the matter.

If worse comes to worse, call the Customer Service number or do some internet stalking and find either the UK Technical Support Manager or Customer Service Manager.

I had to find the email of upper management to get any sort of explanation and compensation for Ducati blundering the spec of my 22 PV4.

And I can’t stress enough to get EVERYTHING IN WRITING from any and all parties involved.

Thanks for the info honestly, I’d say I’m going to have a job on my hands getting any form of resolution, just hoping they sort it without a fight. Hopefully I’ll hear back this week but for sure I’ll chase it if it doesn’t go my way.
