After a track day and ride on a normal road what i can say about this exhaust that is just perfect after coming from stock and Termignoni. So i have stock ECU map and stock map on PC-V at the moment and bike is reallyyy great. On a same track im faster 10km/h on a straight then with termignoni

Looks great,Sounds great, Performs great

NIce to know I've made the right decision on the exhaust. Hopefully it will run alright with just the 1199R Race map!?!

Out of curiousity I like the bike stand you've got in the pictures. Where did you get it if you don't mind me asking?

So it is running like a stock bike at this point (tune wise)?

Hey Wampire,

Where did you get these tank pads? I'm talking about the ones on the side of the tank.

Thanks

Bye

Stand is from a Bike-tower.de
At the moment only stock map not a termignoni up-map of any kind
Tech-spec grip on a tank

I'd like your opinion of your Panigale S and HP4 when you have a chance.

I've had the HP4 for about a year, feel free to PM if you want feedback. Have an R as well....just sold the HP4.

I can give an unbiased view as I've owned and still own BMW's - GS, HP2, S1000RR, HP4 and have/had every iteration of the 1199 - base, Tri(S), and R.

Every one of these have been ridden on the street and track.

I picked up my 1199 R in march, run it in and have had the Akrapovic system installed at the first service.

Intial reactions to the bike for me are fantastic. After coming straight from an 1199 S and having people suggest there's a) no difference or b) not enough difference to justify the extra cash must be blind or have extremely dull senses.

The bike's better gearing and better fuelling has given it far better road manners, especially around town where the S feels jerky and agressive. Having the different rear swingarm set up has also made it feel a lot more planted in corners and makes me feel a lot more confident with it in corners. Anyone looking to upgrade but aren't sure, do it! You must have this bike it is worth the extra cash from someone who knows!

More importantly and more relevant to this thread is that I have the Akrapovic system now fitted and it is still on the 1199 R's standard/Termignoni up-map. So far I have had no issue with it at all except for being harder to start from cold i.e. a little throttle required or it takes a few more engine cycles to fire up but certainly nothing that causes any concern.

However, what can I say, the sound is utterly awesome :O :D :D :D :O Holy Sh*t it is good!! The bike feels much stronger in the lower revs than my S too. And the looks are killer. Just on the sound and the looks alone I would buy this system any day!

I will be taking this to the dyno in the next few weeks as well as a track day and will update with anything else that comes up and hopefully a dyno chart, maybe some video footage too. As it is I can't fully compare it to the Termi's as I never got to ride the bike with them on (I used a standard exhaust for running in borrowed from the dealer).

To be continued......

Hello.

Ya I am one of the guys who will end up forking ~$4K for this Akra.

But I have a couple of questions that I would like your opinion on:

1. On the performance side, since the Akra is 1/4" smaller than the Termis, how significant is this decrease in diameter contribute to power/torque and weight?

2. How is the heat with the smaller heat shield and titanium combo? If its bad, would we be seeing akras with the V2 Termi shield on?

Thank you.

If u have the upgraded larger heatshield for the stock pipes, akrapovic heatshield will be noticeably hotter if you're in slow traffic. If you're moving, not too bad. Weight is about 10-11 pounds lighter than stock and about 4-5 lighter than termis if I'm not mistaken. I can't personally speak on performance since I haven't dynoed or tuned it yet but my butt dyno says it has helped with the midrange dip with the stock and termi pipes.

If you look at the front of this thread there's some decent photos to explain. Although the Akra diameter is smaller there is a point where the Termi end can design and size require the pipe to be flatened to allow it all to fit on the bike which looks to me like a major restriction. The Akra doesn't as it has smaller end cans and slightly smaller diameter pipe as you say, but this is uninterrupted without any flat spot/restriction.

Sure it gets hot. But not enough to bother me (UK temperatures though) even in summer (23-28 deg.C).

Love the akraline! Curious what Ducati will do the next years.
Today I noticed the superleggera 055/500 at my dealer ready for delivery, the colors were awesome IRL! It came with akra

If the 2012 1199s ABS has the termi and! the 41 sprocket, new chain and latest upmap the difference is very minimal.
