Hello guys.

So, recently I bought a one piece Alpinestars suit. It's a 2015 model (Motegi) and I got it from Revzilla.com

Yesterday I went for my FIRST ride to break it in and when I got home (2.5 hr ride) I noticed the screen printed alpinestars wording on one of the thighs/legs is peeling off / melting (see pictures).

WTF? 2 hours of riding and this happens? I didn't rub my leg against anything. I think the finish of this is very poor and disappointing when this suit costs $900, I know there are more expensive ones but hell, it doesnt justify this. It shocks me coming from such a "popular" brand. At least I got it when it was on clearance. Thank God!!!!

I don't know what method they use for this (heat transfer, screen print) but It looks to me like a "sticker" and they didn't cure it properly of something. The logos on the arms and chest are fine. The other leg is ok too but I noticed there is like 1/32" of a letter's edge that is kinda "shrinking" so I guess eventually the same crap will happen.

Is this something "common" or I got the only one that a lazy factory worker rushed and didn't apply the logo properly? Is the actual suit (what really matters at the end) as poor quality as their method of applying their on logo on the suit!??? I hope NOT!

Same thing goes for the gloves (this ones I got from STG). On the palm side of them, there is some wording that says "one vision" "one goal"... well, the "one goal" started to fade away and it only took a couple of times rubbing it with my thumb when that crap was gone. The only difference between the gloves and the suit is that the suit I didnt even touch, I guess the movement of the leg somehow weakened the print? What a piece of crap! I bet a cheap ... $300 Sedici suit would hold the brand name in place... disappointing.

Sorry, had to vent. And what sucks is, the suit is discontinued so in case I get a chance to return it I would have to get another model, pay more and probably have the same thing happen to a newer one (I just think this whole screen print thing sucks)

yup, i had this happen on my Alpinestars race replica suit and that cost about $3000. It happened after 1 trackday so I called up Alpinestars and they asked for me to send it to them for warranty so I did. All they did was just remove the logo all together, they didn't even bother to re-screen print a new one on.

I also have a $1000 A* GP Tech leather jacket which is essentially the top half of the race replica suit, same thing happened there with the logo falling off, I had it sent to A* HQ, same deal, they just removed the logo and sent it back

the leather on the suits no matter what level are the same. problem is the lower lines are made overseas. i had many problems with lower level stuff from a stars. usually they back their product but get on and stay on top of it. call the home office.

Alpinestars "Screen printed" logo issues?

My wife's GP Pro jacket got the same issue and they wanted to give me the money back.
My jacket also GP Pro is like new after 2 seasons and many miles

That thing that they remove the logo and send back is just unbelievable.. so bad of them

Thanks for all the replies guys!

"Happy" to know I am not the only one experiencing this issue. I would have a heart attack if it happened to a $3k suit.

I will for sure stay on top of it (after Revzilla lets me know what my options are; if they are not favorable, I will contact A* to see what they have to say)

The fact they just offer to remove it and don't even make an effort to replace it and make it right tells me they know for a fact its not the best technique and it will eventually happen again. It is crazy how they dont put more effort to make it right; at the end of the day when we are riding this is what people will look at and its literally free advertisement for them.

I will do as much as I can regardless of the end result to at least let them know we are not happy with it and hopefully it will have a good effect in the upcoming designs. The only way to get this fixed is to let them know we are not gonna put up with it.

Cheers!

PS: I will eventually update this post as soon as I get it "solved"

**** UPDATE 5/22/17 ****
So Revzilla literally just told me the peeling off sometimes happens due to wear and tear, but damn!!! I only wore the freaking suit 2 hours.

They suggested that I contact Alpinestars directly to avoid making them the "middle man" - I understand it would be a faster way to solve the problem but I personally think it is kind of BS that they don't want to back me up and contact them for me, after all they already got their money, right? I bet A* would take action faster when a BIG company is demanding something rather than just a regular guy on the phone. Bad customer support I believe. It's not like you go to a shoe store and buy a pair of defective Nike shoes they will tell you "hey contact Nike, good luck!" - NO! they would give you another pair or your money back.

This whole thing is such a bunch of crap, I bet A* would really mind if Marquez wears a suit thats missing letters from their logo, specially when everybody in the world is watching the race. I am not even a fraction close to be Marquez but I am the guy that other bikers will see on the road/track and will like (or not) my suit and will wonder what model/brand it is, and if they see that its falling apart they will probably buy something else.

On the other hand, sportbiketrackgear.com - STG - asked me to send them pictures of the gloves and they will contact A* to see what they have say (good!, at least they care to try)

Let's see what happens when I call Alpinestars!

Final update

They called me the following day after I email them. That was fast, I'll give them that!

They would take the gloves back for an exchange (but they said it would take 2-3weeks,.. that's a long time IMO)

As far as the suit, they said they don't have the screen print machine here or they would re-do it (they should really buy one! right?), so basically get rid of the logo and call it a day. Wow. I'll do it myself, I don't wanna be waiting 2-3 weeks for that!

Also, they offered me a "super special" price in my future purchase. But to be honest, I will probably go another route... Maybe Dainese for my next suit, boots, gloves and whatever gear...
