Alternative cheaper new parts for the poor

To spend $300+ on DP levers is just plain stupid. Those "ebay" levers do the job just fine. I'm on my second pair of "knock off" levers (1st on my Panigale) and they are EXACTLY the same as my Pazzo levers I've had in the past. I purchased limited edition white pazzo levers off motomummy for my Daytona 675 couple years ago. When my bike got tipped over in a parking lot, I didn't feel like spending another $200 for another set and figured I may as well try out the cheap $70 ..... Not only were they EXACTLY the same lever in looks and fitment and all that, they didn't wear off like it's been mentioned in previous posts. I went with levers off of adjustablelevers dot com for my Panigale because they were the same exact color match as all my Rizoma parts (blue). All for $90 shipped. I won't mention any names but I know for a fact I'm not the ONLY person who has these levers on their Ducati. Certain things make sense to spend the extra cash on. If the ridiculously overpriced levers functioned any better or even looked any better than the cheap stuff, I would definitely spend the $$. Afterall, it's only paper. Reality is, they do the exact same job. Now SOME of those cheap levers do have problems with fitment and can be "loose". I can definitely understand if that is the case. Mine have no looseness whatsoever and I'd buy again in a heartbeat. I've splurged $800 on my titanium bolt kit. Clearly I don't have an issue with dishin out the cash on unnecessary mods. Then again, I didn't have any other choice but one company that had that purplish blue finish to it like the Proti bolts have.

i have the adjustable levers for my bike too. they are laser inscribed with 1199 panigale. they are all black look just as good if not better than anything else i have seen.

Threads like this always go south. I have the asme levers, had them on a bike I commute with for almost 3 years now and guess what? NO coating has magically come off.

I can assure you there are tons of cheap chinese parts made in the same factory that the other "highend?" parts are made. The company that has their name put on the final product can vary the QA process which of course can lead to different outcomes later down the line.

Carl1199, I actually appreciate your post and putting yourself out there for the shooting gallery.

you get what you pay for. in this case you get levers with adjustability, fitment, features like brand levers. but without the NAME and maybe slight material differences. and we're not talking titanium/cast iron, were talking alloy1/alloy2 here (maybe).

each to his own, i like to spend my money on stuff (tuneboy, rearsets, 3 or more sets of tires/year), for sure, but why not take a look at where it is really required? not that i couldn't afford a set of $400 levers, but i just can't do it (it hurts my brain), when i get a good alternative for $65. So, i let the riding speak, not the parts on the bike or the bling. i don't give a .... what someone else says about my bike, because it is MY bike and it has to please ME.

and in case of brake levers, guess what touches the ground when the bike drops... even if they fold, it hurts way more on DP ones than chinese ones. just get another pair. and another one. LOL

and don't tell me there's much research behind developing a brake lever...

<rant end>

check THESE levers ;)

oh, maybe I am a cheapo, 'cause I just got a BASE, not a S, tri or R

LOL

As stated, this was for others that may not want to pay the over inflated prices for a product that has Ducati on them. I have used these before on race and road bikes and had no issues as a few of you have mentioned, cynical bunch comes to mind, most products in the automotive industry are produced in taiwan under licence of the manufacturer, I worked for a Direct import company that sold OE suspension parts for cars and they all came out of Taiwan before being shipped to Japan, Australia and the USA (yes your precious USA), usually written on the box designed in USA, made in Taiwan, all made with quality steels/alloys etc. Yes you can state that the product from China is ....., because some of it is. Yes I can actually afford to buy the DP brand, or an R if I wanted, I wanted to buy a Base as who need to adjust there suspension on the fly? Yes in white, yes it is fast, as fast as my Tri Colore mates, he can attest from our Akaroa GP ride in the weekend. I think you should all take a good hard look at yourselves before judging others, and yes I know some of it is gentle or not so gentle banter in some cases.
The reason I bought a Panigale was my wife said go and treat yourself something nice after being diagnosed with a rare smooth muscle cancer (Leimyosarcoma) at the end of last year, it was always a dream of mine to go into the Ducati dealership with cash and say I want to take that one, a brand new bike, (owned a few Ducatis in the past that I heavily modified) in my instance I had to wait for it to arrive from Italy-Australia the New Zealand, well worth the wait to unwrap my first new bike, in white it was far better than any picture could show.
I think you guys out there with the red or Tri are secretely thinking ....., I wish I had the balls to stand out in a crowd on my white Panigale, but my boyfriends might tease me, but I will be like all the other sheep and have a Red one.

So heres a pic of how I paid for my bike for all you old prudes out there that have nothing better to do with your time but poke fun at others choices in life.

Last questions, were you bullied at school or did your father tamper with your little winkies when you were sleeping???

A little ironic that they guy form New Zealand is cracking sheep jokes?

...and the foods great...:D

Yes, the proper Chinese food is great, cannot get anything like that in Europe. I work three months/year in China (selling/consulting them stuff, not buying). I only hate their electric scooters, was almost killed by one because you cannot hear them.

What comes to the levers, I have nothing against Chinese products as long as they are not straight copies of Pazzos or other companies products.

When it comes to human rights I always find it interesting how people laud the Usa in that area despite such abuses as Guantanamo Bay and the "enemy combatants"... I would say we as a country need to look in the mirror before criticising other countries....

Nobody is perfect.

Firstly I had to google Wyatt Earp, who? I said to myself, but he does indeed have a resemblance to our $100, Sir Ernest Rutherford, what did he do not gamble or be involve in the OK Coral shoot out, he only Split the Atom!!!!!!! He is from a little place called Nelson in the South Island of New Zealand, most probably use #8 fencing wire and some sheep wool to do it!!!!
CCF, you secretly want a pink Panigale don't you, that you would buy with our pink play money, (its a soft red colour) LOL. I thought I would get in first on the sheep jokes, as I usually do on my short jokes etc, you have to be able to laugh at yourself before laughing at others.

This did take a quick dip to the south, (I do live in the South Island) but I didn't expect anything less from our fellow Neanderthals.

However I am having a laugh at the responses.

Heard of Sir Edmund Hillary??? First man to summit Mt Everest, yes he was from New Zealand also!!!!
On the bike seen John Britten, Britten V1000, didn't it wheelie past a factory Ducati at Daytona???? Which this bike gave Ducati the inspiration for the Panigale, so we wouldn't be riding such an awesome piece of machinery if it wasn't for the late nights in the garage in a little town called Christchurch, hmmm, in New Zealand also.

Few others: Sir Peter Jackson, Richard Pearce (flew same time as the Wright Bros), Aaron Slight, numerous time winners rowing World Champions, just to mention a few, and we have a population of 4 million, only a small town in the States, so yes we do punch well above our weight class when it comes to the world scene.

We also have a Girl beating some of your riders out there in the road race scene, Avalon Biddle, keep an eye out for her name in the near future, coming to a podium near you!!!
