Alternative way for installing front direction indicator

Is this actually an existing product?
I don't like the design (the LEDs should be more asymmetrically positzioned). But the idea is terrific!!

idea and (cursory) PHOTOSHOP are mine; ;' .

another one with a CRG as image donor:

asymmetry cant work in this application too well....you could light up the outside ring tho and keep middle open...i am just conveying the concept in simplest terms...

and you are f**king my brain :)
I would need to find:
#1 a spheric mirror manufacturer
#2 someone that makes LED's mounted using SMD technique in this configuration, with a plastic protective shield

A huge project, but I guess it would be worth it.

if i had a lathe (LOL) and some LEDs it would be done in a weekend! DO IT!

i gave u the proof of concept and the visual references!

VAST: don't be jealous. My production environment is in a 5 sqm room in my appartment!
Last LED project was my bed. :)

Gecko, get rid of the bed, stick some glass in and flood it. Would make a great aquarium!

here are some other alternatives:

TruWrapz Flex LED Wraparound Turn Siganls

or these somehow attached to actual backside of mirror + clear housing ::

Motorcycle LED Light Bulbs

off the windshield???

TruFLEX Windshield Trim LED Turn Signals

Have you seen these?

Very low profile if used with a CRG blindside mirror

very very nice -- not sure if CRG can clamp on that ...

I was referring to this comment.

You still need something to clamp the mirror on...

If you are going with bar mounted mirrors, that setup looks like it requires the minimal amount of space to do so. And you have signals as well in there.

Okay, I made a first inquiry for an offer from a company having CNC machines.
What would be a reasonable price you would pay for a set? It would be good to have a rough number to decide which would be the best way for producing.

I am getting an 899 not a 1199S or R. So it looks like I will not be able to benefit from this cool designed part. :(

I don't know how the base pani's high beam heat sink looks like. I know it fits on the SL and the Tri. the heat sink has a diameter of 45mm where the bracket would be mounted.
Attached you'll find picture of the mounting on the Tri, folded and unfolded.

Thank you all for the compliments and the interest. I am checking already different options to produce it as cheap and as cool looking as possible. And before starting, I'll quote a price first. no obligations.

1 x BigBoost
1 x Italianonegro
1 x Wachuko
1 x mito gp
1 x BadBoyBeltran
2 x RD16RR (or 1 x depending on the future)
1 x JArnold (would have to fit on base model)
1 x Sloopy (superlight version with titanium screws)

I'm with Sloppy... I will take the superlight version with titanium screws that is crooked for the SL.

Tough question to answer. I cannot speaking for everyone, but I would be willing to pay more for more exotic materials (like the titanium screws), but I am more concerned with fit and finish.

Also would that include the turn signals from Rizoma?

I am thinking that you would be in the $250+ dollar range forsure right?

It makes no sense to me to include the turn signals to the kit. First I do not get any discount as a private person, second there are so many styles out on the market and peoples taste differ so much. The cropped mounting bracket has a 8mm dia. hole for the turn signal. That fits most blinkers.

Price:
For the screws I checked already. Steel screws are almost neglectable, and I would turn/polish them for free of course (VAST: using the lathe, ask zohsix01 :D ).
If it comes to hollow CNC manufactured Ti screws, I would get a 10% discount if I would order them for 10 kits. But still that would make 40 to 50 USD per kit.

As for the aluminium parts: I am on it...
Anodization: Is not really dependend on the pieces produced.

I think 200 USD should be the upper limit for such a kit, hopefully with Ti screws.

finish: like any other high end qualtity product. even better than shown on my first picture on this thread. actually this is the reason why I didn't want to make it with bended alu sheets (would be very cheap and functionally the same).

fit: there is only one thing related to fittment. It's how much the indicator signal should poke out of the fairings. And this can be adjusted with the bracket around the heat sink.

-- just a random question: will crg's bar end mirrors fit on the stock ducati bar end ?
