I'm picking the under dog in this fight. I'm hoping to see Lorenzo pull off the upset and retain the title. Marquez has been awesome but this could have been even a closer battle if it wasn't for the crashes by Lorenzo early in the season. I'm sure we could comment on the lost points to Marquez for the tire debacle.
I'm all for Lorenzo winning the title, but this is why it isn't going to happen.
Marquez has easily made the podium in the majority of races, and all he has to do is finish 4th if Lorenzo wins. And at Valencia it doesn't look so good for Lorenzo against the Hondas. Honda has won the last 3 of the 4 GPs at Valencia with Lorenzo winning in 2010. Pedrosa won last year and 2009, so he likely could beat Lorenzo this year.
If Pedrosa wins with Lorenzo coming in 2nd, then Marquez only has to finish 8th to beat Lorenzo on points. Interestingly, if Lorenzo finishes 2nd and Marquez finished 9th, they would be tied on points, but Lorenzo has 1 more win thus far than Marquez and he would be champion.
Lorenzo turned my opinion of him around this season and rode with tremendous skill and heart, so I'm really rooting for him but I don't think it will happen.

I agree but thought this could bring up some good conversation. The only question is how hard will Marquez push himself? I imagine he would play it smart and be conservative and coast to the finish in whatever place he needs to take the title.

If Marquez can manage to keep his bike on the track then he should have this wrapped up fairly easily. However, I have been quite impressed with Lorenzo of late; his Motegi performance was about as close to a perfect race as you can get.

dont forget about marquez crashing by himself on the final lap which was a 20 point loss. you cant mention jlo loosing points on crashes when marquez lost the same amount with a crash and a black flag. everything is equal now.

well we know that rossi would get zero votes cause he won 1 race this year when everybody else was hurt. i mean 1 race in 3 years. i mean is he even relevant?
on a side note im starting to like the guy a little bit but whenever i do someone always says something that i say see this is why i dont like him.
he has charisma for sure. a fabulous history in racing and has done enormous benefit for the sport as a spokesperson. I dont even mind him its the supporters of him that drive me crazy.
I even like his helmets, the designs anyway agv isnt for me.
But the MM helmet he wore in japan i want in the worst way. i called shoei and they said its a one off and WILL NOT BE PRODUCED FOR SALE. i asked why and they said too much controversy. that makes me want it even more.

No Nicky is competing in the Ducati Cup against Dovi for the championship.
Which he lost quite convincingly before the season was even over

Yes, I've heard the same about the controversy. Who cares! I think its in alll good intention. Having said that...I dont think I want MM's face on my helmet even when I like him (his Number? sure why not). Maybe you can put your face like him on a helmet instead with the same design. Now, that would be funny and cool.
I missed the whole controversy part and had to look up images of that helmet. I thought it was hilarious that no one, not even Shoei who custom painted the helmet with the design, mentioned anything to anyone involved with MM. Shows how actually isolated MM is with Catalans all around him. Supposedly HRC was not amused when they saw it at Motegi.

on the bmw forum here is a guy that was at the race. he lives in japan here is what he said
They were selling those t-shirts all around Motegi. It's not something that Marq cme up with himself I'd reckon.

Here in Japan people actually think that's funny as long as its meant to be funny.. People in the 'west' are too quick to perceive offense.. No offense meant!
