any air filters proven to make more power?

Ok ok I was just being a crabby little ..... earlier today. I had a nap and the wife bakes me cookies so Im settled now. The real problem is the design itself as evident by the fact that I think you pick up 10hp with the tank off (remote tank, dyno, motor only) The inlet tunnels on the stock bike are very restrictive. Look at the massive size of the SBK intake manifolds on the race fairings compared to the "crawl space" on the stock bike. The bike needs more air but i don't think the bulk of the problem is with a restrictive filter. I have the P16 because Im stupid that way and the bike is constantly apart as it is an R&D platform so it gets a lot of TLC. The P08 is a better choice for the street. I am also using a modified intake manifold (yes with the headlight) to be able to use any increase in flow that the P16 would offer. I do not believe a higher flow (CFM) filter much matters when the CFM of flow available to the motor is compromised from an availability perspective. I would take a stock filter and a race intake funnel any day over a free flow filter and the stock intake tunnel.

LOL, no worries, we all get that way

thanks for the info!!

I ordered a P08 to set my tunes up with :)

I installed a BMC filter. I did it solely for the sound. I can't say that it made any power gains, but it certainly makes awesome "music".

In my opinion, the stock filter is restrictive with a screen on it, so everyone has "something" to gain by replacing it.

I own a dyno, but I never hit the rollers until after I did the filter, so I can't say if it made any difference.
