Being a Scotsman and having a taste for the finer things in life, like Ducatis, I also have a fondness for top-flight Scotch. Anyone else here want to tell us what your favorites are?

I will start with a few of my favorites:

Highland Park 25 Year Old
Aberlour a'Bunadh Batch #50
Ardbeg 23 Year Old 1991 - Single Cask
Caol Ila 15 Year Old 1998 Unpeated

And the best Scotch I have ever tasted - Inchgower 16 Years Old 1995 - Old Malt Cask

I shared a bottle with a few of my Scotch fanatic friends and was promptly told I had ruined their lives for letting them taste it; it was that good.. No more left anywhere unfortunately.

Cheers.

Nice!
Perhaps with a Monte Cristo #2 or Arturo Fuente Opus X?
What say you on including a high end cigar with your wonderful precious fluid?

I never did get into cigars; my Dad caught me puffing on one of his when I was 7 and he made me smoke the entire thing.. I was SOOOOO freaking sick, I never looked at one again. Plus, I have enough expensive vices; another one might push my Wife over the edge..

I'm into Scotch :) I'm a Speyside fan, anything finished in Sherry or Port casks, I like the sweeter scotches rather than peaty or oaky. My favorites distillery is Glendronach. A few of my favorite scotches are:

Glendronach 15 "The Revival" or any Glendronach for that matter (especially cask strength)
Balvenie 16 Sherry Cask
Balvenie 14 Caribbean Cask
BenRiach 15 Sherry
Aberlour A'Bunadh

Irish:
Bushmills 16

Japanese:
Yamazaki 18

Burbon:
Angel's Envy
Willet
Buffalo Trace (yes believe it or not, its great).

On my honeymoon I stayed in London for 2 days and visited Hedonism Wines which has the most amazing whisky collection I've ever seen and picked up some gems:

1954 Strathisla Girdon Macphail (59 year old)
1971 Glendronach (43 year old)
Glenfarclas 21 - vintage bottle, first put in the cask in 1953 and bottled in 1974

You, Sir, have impeccable taste in Scotch..

GREAT list of what you like; very similar to mine.

Here's what I just had shipped to me from back home in Edinburgh, Scotland. So far, I'm LOVING the Black Art Bruichladdich and the BenRiach is close behind. I'm a bit disappointed in the Tullibardine 25 though...

I agree that the Aberlour A'Bunadh is spectacularly good, especially for the price; a real knockout.

NICE! Make sure you keep them out of the sunlight, it will destroy them over time :)

Here some of my other stuff:

I've never heard of a single one of those. I guess it would help if I drank that stuff in the first place. Might be able to grow some chest hair at 36.

What a great collection; I have an entire closet full of my good stuff.. If my Wife knew how much money was tied up in my Scotch, she'd divorce me.. :D Nah.. she's a good sport.

I can't seem to find a Macallan that I like and I have tried pretty much all of them and I'm not much on the lighter Speysides.. too light and floral for me.

I have a soft spot for Islays, especially Lagavulin and Bunnahabhain; one of my friends is a tour guide at Lagavulin.

Like you, I like the sherried single Malts; my favorite Scotch ever, was a strange Douglas Laing creation, an Old Malt Cask Inchgower 16 - the absolute best thing I have ever put in my mouth.. They only made 462 bottles and I got my hands on the last 3.. Long gone now and none left. Not very expensive, either, only around $120 per bottle.

I have recently been on a Highland Park kick; loving the 18 year old. Also have been trying various A'Bunadh casks: 39, 43, 47 all similar, yet all incredibly good.

Cheers and thanks for the relies and the great pictures of your collection. Looks like you are in the South Bay?

It's like any other hobby; it can get weird and expensive, especially if you start tasting stuff that blows your mind. I will take a great bottle of single malt Scotch over ANY wine; not even close.

Cheers.

Good stuff! I love Scotch ..... Yep I live/work in the South Bay, I was in San Jose, moved to Morgan Hill almost 1 year ago now. Scotch and being a coffee snob are things I am pretty into other than Moto :-D

You're in SF it seems, if you haven't, but I am sure you have check out Cask or The Whisky Shop. The best scotch bar I've found to date is Nihon, they have Japaneese fusion food and about 500 single malt scotches in a menu organized by region, and you can get tastes/half drams so you can explore the menu a little more without dropping crazy cash.

But you've prob been to all those places already.

I'm sure. I purchased a Macallan 18 for my buddies wedding and was shocked by the price tag. I'd never everrrrr spend that on alcohol for myself but obviously this was a special occasion. He's a big Jameson drinker. Of course it's nothing fancy so I figured I may as well fancy it up for him and maybe we can both sample the 18. He has yet to open it and it's been 6 months lol. I only know about the 40-60 dollar bottles and have a couple. Macallan 12, Drumguish, Glenlivet 12. That's it. And those are for my guests. I'm not a fan of Scotch. Hell, not much of hard liquor in general.

I usually stop by Cask every month to replenish my "daily drinking" Scotch.. The more esoteric stuff, I get from back home in Scotland; a lot of it isn't available outside of Scotland, so I have to have it shipped over.

I will have to try Nihon; you are the third person who has told me to get my butt over there.. I guess the bar tab for a night out there could get hideously expensive.. :D

This is the place in London:

https://hedonism.co.uk

They have everything and can get anything, even stuff from auction and estate sales. There shipping rates are pretty good to the USA, my three bottles made it :)

I love Highland Park 18 yr old Single Malt My wife bought me some for my birthday... I love the rather smokey taste..

Definitely one of my favorite daily drinkers. The 21 and 25 year olds are spectacular.

There's a 15 Year old Arran from K&L Wines (a private bottling) that's brilliant as well and not too expensive, at around $120.00 per bottle.

Had this the other night which I love, along with Macallan 12 year which I am not a fan.
