I gave up on waiting for the Austin single side dual outlet option with bellypan option and bought a brand new Termi slip on kit for $1,550.00.

I've always done exhaust mods myself on all of my bikes. I opened the box last night and holy smokes are there a lot of bits. Maybe once I get going and group the bits together on the garage floor it wont seem so intensive but man are there a ton of pieces in this kit.

My question is how many here have decided to tackle this themselves (including the upmap at home) and how do those that have feel about it?

How long did it take?

Assuming you could go back in time would you have had dealer install instead?
- Wonder what dealer would charge to install btw.

Any insight is much appreciated.

My dealer wanted $400... So I decided to do it myself.... I think it took me around 6 hrs in total with many breaks and feelings of "oh ...."....The up map is by far the easiest and most pleasant part of the job....lol.... Would I do it again??? Difficult to say.... As this is the only one I have ever done I am sure I didnt do it totally the right way.. and so I took much longer than a dealer would but $400!! thats insane...
If you decide to do it yourself then make sure you take your time.. Have a good set of Metric hex T drivers.... and lots of patience...

I did install them myself without a hitch. upmap loaded perfectly. I reccomend doing yourself if your capable. If you can do an oil change and read directions, you can do it. Took about 4.5 hours
A great way to bond with your bike.

You say it took 4.5hrs, back in April last year I said 2hrs to strip + 2.5hrs to install :p

How insanely funny!!

Having the right tools makes it a whole lot easier. I highly suggest wobble extensions to allow some freedom for the sockets and the chapman set or comparable tool.

gunny fits buddy did it himself too. when i get them i will give it a go myself also the stealerships are just too much money. question does the direction tell you about the extra rubber piece and how to install it so you dont burn your fairings?

HELP!!

In the process of swapping out stockers for the Termis and it appears the exhaust fan motor assembly gets removed and does not go back on. I'm just going on pictures here from the directions.

Can anyone confirm this please? I'm elbow deep in scrapes adn chain grease and no I do not want to spend 30 minutes on 'search' to try and find out if its been posted before. Damn allen screw on kickstand side got darn near stripped on preventing me from removing stockers, took nearly 60% of overall time for that one screw so far $$@%@%^&*!!!

Thanks,

Yes the flapper motor and cable are removed. Don't strip ....! Go to sears and buy an appropriate tool!

Thanks. I have the right tool, it's a #6 Allen wrench/hex but the left side rear sets are in front of the frickin Allen screw thus preventing me direct access and the chain is on the other side making it difficult to get close.

Gonna wait til after football to attempt bolting on the Termis. The directions completely blow and for you rock stars that were able to do this in 4.5 hours I have to hand it to you.

if my bike wasnt at the dealer for warranty work id take a ride over in this weather for sure.

Im going to be fitting the same next weekend .....When you remove the cable and servo motor do you just put the plug cap on the unplugged cable and leave it ? Why is there a flapper valve in the pipe if you dont use it ? with the Termis Y connection ?

Its not a hex!!! Its a Torx!! Hence your problem...

I have hex and TORX and this bolt has a hex female opening. The smaller screws fastening the exhaust fan have the star female * opening and for those I use TORX.

Do it yourself...best advise I can give is...
Take off the rear wheel, it will give better access to the exhaust bolts.
...If I remember correctly some of the mounting bolts and or seals are reused from stock.

FOOTBALL! Ravens Baby!

Btw a plane ticket is all it will cost you and ill be over to help! Ill bring the beer!

You'd have deal on that if I hadn't just spent $2,800 on a new FN PS90 with 3 50rd clips and 10 boxes of ammo.
