New to this forum. I finally decided to purchase a Ducati. My childhood dream since I first saw the PASO bad in the mid eighties!!! My V4S should be ready for pickup this Friday (fingers crossed).
Has anyone taken their V4S to the track yet? Do you have any suggested baseline suspension settings to start with? Did you leave the suspension in the dynamic mode? Sag setup? I'll ask the shop these questions as well. I just printed the 349 page manual (need more beer).

Just running my stupid thing on at the moment first outing at the track in three weeks at a brand new track as well .
My bike is the poverty pack pulling going to re valve re spring the big piston Showas and see what they are like will be the first time for me standard issue internals but I hear good things about them .
I will just be working out a base to start from and work around that .

Have hit up two different track days so far. First day was at COTA, then another at a smaller bumpy local track. The power/handling is pretty impressive. I've been just tinkering around with the dynamic setup thus far and it seems very good so far.

I think I may need to change spring rates to slightly stiffer, as I'm 6' 195lb before gear. I'm just focusing on getting more seat time mostly. The V4 is quite a bit different than my 1299 (in a good way). So far, I've got about 140mi logged on track.

When you say "in a good way", what does that mean specifically?

Just feels very responsive is all. It's a bit wider in the tank/crotch area, but I feel like it's a bit easier to "grab" with my knees under braking and whatnot. On the 1299, I really had to squeeze since it was quite narrow. When your legs start to feel like jello, it becomes more challenging.

You mean you just left it in Dynamic? Or did you change something?

You have quite a bit of tuning options whilst in Dynamic mode.. It doesn't just magically adjust everything. :p

You can tweak the settings during hard braking to your preference. You can adjust mid corner to operate as needed and then adjust acceleration for corner exit. There is a fair amount you can tune, and it changes depending on the track/conditions.

If it's dry and the track is smooth, you can opt to lean more toward the "stability" vs. "grip" (think hard vs. soft) in each of the three different categories, braking/mid corner/acceleration. If it's bumpy or maybe if a bit wet, you may want to opt for a slightly softer "grip" setup to keep the tires tracking better and maintaining better contact with the surface.

Although it's "Dynamic", there is still quite a bit of adjustment you can make. I just need to play around with it a bit more in different conditions to see what works best for me.

I'll have to go through the menus again. When i went through all the settings last time and was looking at suspension, I got impression it was either you tune all the things you said to your pref, or leave it dynamic.

I did not realize there was a way to adjust dynamic behavior.

I'll look again. Thanks.

I just moved to VA, so hopefully I will see you sometimes at the track somewhere.

I plan to do VIR in May but with CSS which will be my first time at VIR and first time tracking after my move. I plan to hit NCbike in the future and VIR if I like the track.

On that screen there are 4 options. One to set it to Fixed, One to set it to Dynamic, One to customize the Dynamic settings and One to customize the Fixed settings.

If you go fixed, you can set fork/shock compression and rebound settings as desired in the more traditional manner. Once set, it never changes. Also, it's worth noting, you have to actually select the option to change it from dynamic to fixed and vice/versa. The Ducati techs even missed that one on mine. They set a bunch of custom fixed settings, but didn't back out and enable fixed mode. Same goes for dynamic, you can customize at will, but need to make sure it's enabled (should be if you haven't changed it.. as it's the default).

Nice. Hope to see you around.

I am probably doing NC Bike with PRE on April 22nd.

I don't see VIR on CSS schedule for May. Just June 9th-10th. Is that what you meant? You gonna race V4? What class?

You should try Summit Point too, it's fun, as long as it's main circuit and not one of the smaller ones.

Out of curiosity, which track did u ride last? And what Dynamic settings did u end up at?

Luddenham Raceway?

I'm down the road in Greensboro. Hopefully my V4S will be here and ready for pickup this Friday. I've got a few weeks to get her ready for Barber! That track is a hand-full with my current bike Aprilia Touno 1100R Factory. I love the bike but the dirtbike handlebars really make the difference on the track. I've never really gotten a good feel of the front tire. Clip-ons versus handlebars. It's probably all in my head.

I've had 2017 Supersport S on track as well as Superduke 1290 R. I know exactly what you mean. Supersport was far better handling wise, but still felt odd.

I am in Releigh myself. In addition to PRE on April 2nd, we also gonna do NC Bike on 22nd and Cornerspeed Ducati-MA days at VIR on 16th/17th. All VIR North.

Maybe you can make it to one of those with your V4 or Tuono.

Played around with it today.

Right of the bat slid it 2 notches towards performance away from comfort for "Braking" setting. Instant fix for brake dive I've been disliking. Luv it!

Firmed it up a little overall by changing suspension 2 clicks towards performance for "Fork" and "Shock" too. Maybe a tad harsh on bumpy roads now, but on smooth pavement it's bliss.

This rocks.
