Hey guys. Just curious. For those of you who have bikes with ABS and for those who have ridden demo bikes with ABS, did you notice anything different in regards to feel of the brakes?

I was doing some research on this forum and other spots on the internet and have read reports that ABS can cause the brake to feel mushy and spongy...

Flynbull mentioned this phenomenon on the ABS system that is on the Multistrada. I guess it's a known issue especially in the rear.

Anything to report back for us waiting on the sidelines?

I have only done a test ride on an S with ABS and I can tell you the brakes are anything but spongy. They were superb. Way ahead of my CBR1000RR without ABS.

Further, having had a GSXR1000 with some special brake kit on it some time ago, the Pani with ABS is way more powerfull in the braking arena.

I was also wondering if the 1199 ABS brakes are a C-ABS like on the 2009 and after CBR600/1000's. C standing for combined (I think). Basically when you squeeze the poop out of the front brake, the C-ABS automatically applies a certain amount of rear brake for the rider and reversed if you smash on the rear brake, the ABS automatically applies a certain amount of front brake.

I'm also curious about this.

I tested an ABS one under the rain, and the braked are incredible. I am used to my Diavel brakes, so when I first braked on the Pani, I did it without thinking, and the bike instantly stopped. I was quite surprised, almost shocked. They are the most powerful braked I ever had under hand, and I just love them.

As for the ABS, I love it. It's something you almost never need, and thus, it never really goes on. But when you have to brake hard because of one of those "sorry mate I didn't see you even if in fact I saw you but since I am in a car and you are a ....... news on a ....... bike I knew you would brake to save your life ah ah gotcha smart ass" guys, you end up believing that ABS is worth every penny.

And since you can disconnect it, I am very pleased with it, because I know I am not trapped with ABS, it's an option I choose to let in every time but when I get fed up of that I can let if off and be pleased.

I havn't even thought about the fact I have ABS.

They don't feel any different to anything else I've ridden in terms of feel and feedback.

Awesomely powerful, just needing one finger in addition to engine braking most of the time.

So with abs then it should stop you from flipping over if you grab a handful of front brake?

Feels no different to me. Clocked 300 miles now and they have bedded in nicely, it's like an 1198 braking only less sharp to begin with, haven't noticed the ABS at all. No sponginess here.
