Arrow Exhaust Question Regarding Baffles...

My SFV4 is currently in the shop getting the Arrow exhaust installed and the mechanic called to ask if I wanted the baffles in or not...I like a great sounding exhaust but would the baffles out be too loud or anyone notice any type of difference with the bike using baffles compared to not?...does the bike crackle or pop with baffles in or out?... flames etc?...could anyone detail a comparisson of what they noticed running baffles in compared to out and also the exhaust overall compared to stock...thanks...

baffles will muffle some of the deeper sounding BASS....but will make the motor sound more noisy with the higher frequency noise....kinda like the sound your bike makes with clutch out vs. IN at a stop light...but on a 10x scale.
my take, the baffles reduce very little actually decibel output of the bike, and make it kinda sound more ...... from the driver seat.

I measured my 1199 with baffles in/out and got 95db vs 105db....noticeable, but barely. (termi slip on)
I measured my 1299 with baffles in/out and got 100db vs 110db....less noticeable in my opinion...Full system Akrapovic...

good luck my man

If you don't ride with ear plugs, and you should be using them, I'd keep them in.

If you track it, and you should be for sure, your chosen track may have noise limits.

Either way, its super easy to take them in and out.

Crackels, pops and flames is more related to removal of the catalytic converter and introduction of fresh air into the exhaust by the secondary air injection system. This is why people install block off plates and/or disable the SAI system. Shooting flames through your cans isn't good for the life of the baffling material and will complicate any dyno tuning which uses a sniffer.

Ok…if it sounds too thin and needs more bass I might take the baffles out…thanks!

You know how serious the map with baffles in or out is?…I told the dealer I wanted baffles with performance map…and looking at the options its one map with baffles and another map for the arrow exhaust without baffles…hate to pay again just to flash the ECU again for this map…running the bike without baffles on a baffle tune be noticeable?…

I reached out to Arrow for a answer…bike has 675 miles…definitely don’t want issues…

I have the Arrow Ti slip-on installed on my '21 SF with the baffles in, and the Upmap performance tune. Bike runs well, but I suspect that a proper tune on a dyno would make it even better -- feels kinda flat at 6K rpm.

I can tell you that the system is loud, even with the baffles in. I didn't have to run with ear plugs before, but now I always do. Truth be told, if I had to do it all over again, I may have just left the exhaust stock....but it does look great.

Yea today was my 3rd time riding it after the exhaust got put on…I’ll keep the baffles in…when I crack my visor for some air flow it sounds so much louder in a dangerous way so I’ll keep the baffles in so im not choosing ear plugs…but I bent one of the baffle tips trying to pull off it out and need to replace it…eye sore knowing its bent…

Run earplugs no matter what exhaust you have. There is too much wind, traffic, engine, road, and exhaust noise in your helmet to avoid hearing damage. And I agree with others that the Arrow with baffles out sounds way better and is not much louder. All of my baffles are packed away in a box somewhere.

Now I might have to take the baffles out…lol…

Riding on the street without the baffles with the full Akra I get a weird resonance with the helmet midway in the RPM range. I'm currently using an Arai Defiant-X but have a Suomy SR-GP Carbon on the way. Hopefully the Suomy is better.

My Shoei RF 1400 visor up bike sounds loud…visor closed it’s obviously a little lower…definitely wouldn’t want to ride this bike without a helmet for noise purposes…BUT its just a weekend cruiser for me so I want it loud!!!…just don’t wanna pay for another tune if I don’t need it…

No doubt, helmet for sure. I think how tightly the neck roll fits can effect how much exhaust sound you get.
