Hi guys - looking to pickup a base model in Melbourne. Have sold the RSV4 so am now good to go - just wondering if anyone has any advice/feedback on pricing ? There are some factory bonus' going at the moment - Ducati City have quoted a new 2013 base model with Termi slip ons, fitted and map updated, ride away for $28,500. Good deal ? If not, any advice on what I should be looking to offer ? I am used to being able to shop around a bit to get the best price - but I am getting the impression there isn't much scope for that with a new Duke (this would be my first)!

hi mate. i also got my 1st ducati from melb city..

the price looks good..
if you can ask a lil extra maybe free 1st service..
otho i dont know if they will say yes..

i got a S myself so i dont know base but if you get any offer please get it on writing in the contract...

if not they dont have to do it ie.. termi slips.. fitting... 1st service...

The price looks good. Mine worked out dearer than that as I fitted carbon bling on my base. As bluebear said...get it in writing.

Micky, the price is pretty good mate.

I think we may have met last Saturday.

Try the guys in Mornington but I think you will find you have done pretty well. I think the 899 has been a good thing for the 1199 price.

I paid more!

Cheers guys. I'll give the guys at mornington a bell.....maybe see if they can throw in the racing seat or dda+

Hey Micky,

I am picking up my 1199 from Fraser Ducati tomorrow 29th Nov. At first they did not want to deal at all. After walking away, two weeks later I received a call offering me slip-ons and free first service and install. $28990 ride away. Not bad considering mornington would not do any deals at all.

There is supposedly a deal in place whereby neither dealer discounts at all - probably a condition imposed by Ducati to ensure they control pricing to a certain extent. That price is the standard ride away pricing now with the Ducati Summer promotion (previously this deal only applied to the higher spec models - the base was added at the beginning of November) - guess they are throwing in the first service and install to sweeten the deal.

Hi Anyone have been quoted for the R please shim in want to pull a trigger on one but the asking price is a bit high
cheers

My mandatory training, at work, is competition and consumer law, which would suggest that's a breech of consumer law.

There'd even be limitations on Ducati advising of recommend and minimum sale price.

No doubt, it's easiest for dealers to simply, not discount and offer other incentives...

$45990 with Full Termi Exhaust installed, Comfort seat and exhaust heat shield (free anyway) from Frasers Sydney - Del was supposed to be on 1 Dec but has been put back a week - be lucky to find another R available on this shipment I reckon (I didnt bargain - just wanted it) :)

Yep - no deals on the R cos they sell themselves .. if you can find one now :)

Friend bought a base - spent 3k and the bike is a monster, properly tuned got 20hp gain all the midrange back, changed sprocket & chain. Cheap bike goes just as well if not better than my stock R. Comes down to what you are willing to spend really - I just wanted an R with no mods (for now) tired of doing bikes up plus my first ever Ducati so went this line and its going to be predominately a track bike anyway. Personally I think the base or S price atm is a bargain :)

What route did your friend choose to get a 20hp gain??

I guess we are not going to find this out.......

Well it looks like the agreement is in full force - after the mornington guys agreed to match the city store deal (admittedly, they seemed pretty pissed about it, as they claimed neither store was supposed to discount) I basically agreed to buy the bike from them - as they were the ones who initially put in the work - however when later checking availability with them they advised me that they had called Ducati City who had denied making the offer so they then said the best they could do was standard retail. Not sure what I hate more - being basically accused of lying, or being screwed out of the deal by the whole "pricing agreement" situation. Either way, I now don't really want to buy from either dealer - so might keep an eye out for second hand instead.
