After a decent break from racing I actually decided to throw a leg over the Pani and go and enter the first round of National Bears F1.
I was really quite apprehensive when I arrived as the last time I raced I was involved in a serious crash but thought I'm here so lets go .
First day being practice I wanted to get back into the swing of things and by the end of the day I felt I had some mojo back .
Next day was first qualifying so things are getting a little more serious so I really have to try and ended up in seventh out of 28 F1 and F2 bikes so thought not too bad .
Second qualifying I better have a crack and ended up 3rd on the starting grid dropped my time by a second and a half so I'm satisfied .
First race of the day lining up on the grid and I'm nervous as hell as I have not done a race start for over a year and half lights go out and to my surprise I get a good start drop one spot to 4th but fight back to get 3rd in the race .......cool .
Second race of the day get another decent start get into second place then two laps in my steering damper eyelet falls out and makes the bike hard to ride settle I drop a place and settle for 3rd again .
Next day gets limited to only one race caused by a crash and a riding puncturing his lung but his OK .
So third race get a really bad start get swallowed up on the grid drop back to 7th place so have to make up some places and end passing 2 bikes and finishing in 5th place I'm really OK with that .
End result is I'm still a second and half off where I was last time I raced at this track but more time on the bike I will get back there but end up in 3rd overall for the meeting is a decent result and I'm happyish ......you always want to do better .
So I guess I'm sort of back racing again as I really enjoyed the meeting and being back amongst it .

Glad you went back to it. Is yours the one that went up in flames? Honestly as sick as it is to think about, that's probably one of top 3 favorite pictures I've seen with a 1199 in it. All burned... just a cool pic.

Glad your back out there having a good time Wilks. I'm sure you'll be back to your pre-crash self in no time. Good luck out there and hopefully the worst is behind you now.

After seeing pics of your bike burnt and mangled it is impressive you went back out Wilk. But tops to you and great finishes laddy.

Good on you mate for getting back on the horse. Well done on the 3rd overall, especially at the start of the season. I am guessing you were at Mt Gambier, maybe. Good luck with Morgan Park if that is the next one.

Is the next one at Morgan Park ? If so what date is it on?

Great result, glad to see you go back. Help us all live it with you and get some go pro footage next time

Ooo Morgan park will be fun on the pani! I've raced there in bitumen only supermoto races but never on a superbike. Definitely my favorite QLD track for sure.
Good luck!!

I have raced Morgan Park on my old Pani really enjoyed the track . I have a feeling I will not be able to make it to this round as I have not committed to doing the full series .
