......mmmmm I owe the city of Cape Town about R160000.00 in unpaid fines not sure that the third world status we got relates to the high tech mil spec speeding detection .... they have?

Out of principle I will not pay and have my company attorney defend and tie up the judicial system with loads of paperwork simply because speeding in my opinion in SA is too easily policed and more serous crimes are overlooked like unroadworthy cars ,,,,unlicensed drivers, taxi drivers and so on.

Fuc em is what I say, my DD road car goes from 0 to 100 and stops in 8 seconds so you must know having these children born from street hookers now armed with military cameras to trap us upper middle class because we have an address does not work for me.

I will spend 10 times my fines defending it if need be.....JP Smith is a doos and his metro police methods can fuc off.

I'm reasonably well off and am tired of paying tax just to live! .....in the UK cameras are yellow in SA they conceal them???? Wtf how does this contribute to road safty ? And why don't these children born from parents with no contraception armed with cameras trap in wet or dangerous conditions???

I agree with your sentiments towards the fuzz.
But the point is, we have Fines, we have not paid them. We still have our bikes and there is no license point system = freedom.

That same freedom is what allows the unlicensed vehicles and the kamikaze taxis on the roads.

That sucks. A quick blat and boom, license gone.

Australia has become a nanny country. That's what happens when you let leftie's into power.

This is probably why at LEAST 90% of the sport style bikers in my state, in the USA, dont display license plates on their bikes. Its actually more common to have no plate displayed, than to have them displayed. .... those revenue generating machines.

I would be locked up every time I ride if they did that .... here in the U.S. I don't think I've ever ridden the Panigale without going over 100 mph.

^ yeah I think most liter bikes go that fast in first gear My average speed is somewhere 93 LOL

if they ever start installing those cameras here people will shoot them down :D

maybe thats the real reason they took your guns away

Does your wife not let you ride her bike? There should be nothing stopping you riding...

Why? Cause Australia.....

Think if your caught 45Kph over its automatic impound and loss of licence for 28 days.
Even if Speed camera caught you, it flags up and Cops will come around in the next few days to action it.

Speed camera here gives you demerit points off your licence if you get snapped as well.

....unless you come up north. 130Kph limits, 500kms worth of open speed limit roads...not a corner in sight.

Myself....well over 100. In fairness, my fast riding is on country roads where I generally have a lot of visibility.

I accelerated to over take a car so i could join the freeway unfortunately i did 150 km/h instantly and got snapped by the camera

Lost my bike for 28 days plus i have to pay $2000 after 28 days to get my bike back that includes the $1000 speeding fines.

Also I have just lost my license for 9 months so i am on foot riding bicycles instead or catching trains :(

They set the speeding camera right where you enter the freeway to trap suckers like me for speeding - revenue raising scums they are because they know this is where we would need to pick up speed to join the highways.

Hey Alpha what State do you live in ?

we also have a very strict system against speeding. 40kmh over the limit and typically license is gone for 3-6 months. The fine is depending on your income. Low salary person can get 200€ fine and a wealthy person 100000€ ticket from the same crime. For example one ex-Nokia director did 75kmh on 50 zone, ticket 116000€. That was done with Harley D. Yeah, he could afford it but still the ticket is insane.

Sucks really badly and nowadays I do my roadtrips abroad. Now Off to the racetrack.

How can they enforce that ? Ask for your tax returns ? Or check stubs from work ??

What stops people from just defacing the cameras, or spray painting them, or putting boxes over them ? That would last a week in the USA. Someone would cut the camera pole down.

I am in WA Perth and because i did over 40km/h my bike is automatically impounded for 28 days and loss of license also for 28 days.

I will have to also face court where i will have to face the music and pay up to $1000. My bike was registered at another address and the cops got me for giving false address :(

I am getting rimmed real hard i think i will probably elect to do prison time then pay my fines. The only problem is prison is not a safe place dahhhhhh a lot of fine defaulters get assaulted on a regular basis in prison according to news reports a few years ago.

I really can't afford to pay $3000+ so i have no choice but to do prison time - this will raise my insurance premium for sure.

That was almost 20 years ago so i dont really know the system now: hopefully they will let me elect to do community service because i can't afford to pay the fines - let's hope they won't send me to jail because i can't afford to pay.

A few years ago i used to do community services instead of paying fines because too many guys were getting assaulted in prison.

As you know our bikes will break the speed limit in 1st gear :( even the cops that came to take my bike knows this he felt for me because he also rides bikes.

By the way this is my first offense hopefully the judge will go easy on me.

The cops told me a total of 6 Ducati and 2 Harley were impounded on the same day :(

So let me get this right..... You have recently bought yourself a 1299s....bought your wife a 1299....yet will go to prison rather than sell one and pay a fine?

I would sell one pay the fine an then re assess your finances when you get your licence back
