Bad weekend for Panigales!

Frosty hits a deer, and over here on the east coast, I got taken out by a stick in the road right at corner entry that I somehow didn't see. Stick was about the size of a TP tube. Wasn't even going fast (45 mph), but because it happened right at turn-in, it slammed me down on my head and shoulder. Gear spared me from the worst of it, but I've got a broken rib and collar bone. Bike is toast. I'll be doing crash reviews of all of my gear when I get it all back and photographed.

I'm in good spirits though, hoping I can buy the salvage and resurrect the Panigale as a track bike. Will be looking at either another Panigale or a Multistrada for the street.

I got wacked from behind this morning, traffic stopped (very quickly), I was able to stop from 50 mph, 7 feet before the car in-front of me when I was rear-ended. The White Toyota (90's) must have been in a hard stop too, because it shoveled under my rear wheel and launched me off the bike. I'm good, bike ridable too, but lots of broken stuff.

Guy got out, asked if I was ok, helped me pick-up the bike, I pushed it to the shoulder and then he slowly drove OFF. A bunch of people called in the accident, some said they have the license number, CHP was helpful, took my statement. Hopefully they find the guy.

Scott, get better soon dude!

I escaped broken bones but majorly couch-bound for a while.

I recommend SNL replays from Netflix while we wait for Indianapolis.

Thanks Unrazzo!

I hope you recover quickly as well, and I hope they find the scumbag that hit you. Hit and run should not just be jail time, but I think they should lose their license for life.

I am curious, is our panigale more prone to damage compared to the other motorcycles. Does the engine being a stressed member have something to do with it? Or other bikes can be toast after a slow speed crash too?

I was only doing 40-ish mph when I went down, but I went down right at turn-in. As fast as the Panigale turns in, this resulted in me hitting with a great deal of force.

That being said, I think any make of sportbike would have been a total loss in this crash. Damaged components on bikes aren't repaired, they're replaced. That adds up quickly.

You can usually repair a frame, you can't really properly repair a monoque chassis.
