Battery Dying

That's an old myth, rather this would of happen back in the day but not with modern technology.

It's an old myth that has been around since before I did my time, and still exists to this day.
I was told that if one puts a battery directly onto a concrete floor, or a metal bench it will drain the power out of the battery in no time.
If I recall correctly, they used to say it will literally "suck" the charge right out of the battery.
I was told that if I had to put it on the floor or on a metal work bench that a piece of plywood under the battery will save the battery from discharging.

They even supplied me with a nice new piece of plywood cut to the size of a battery to keep for my exclusive use in my bay:)

Over the years, it has been proven by industry professionals who manufacture and supply batteries, that it is an absolute fallacy.

One other thing though.
The old wives tale originated from batteries being charged and or stored on a cold floor or in cold weather.
It's actually the cold which is "the" problem.
Not the material that the battery is actually sitting on.

That's why advanced chargers like the Ctek's have a cold weather mode which charges at a higher voltage under tightly controlled parameters to compensate. The charging voltage is strictly capped at 14.7 V in this case, otherwise damage to the battery will likely be the result.
