Hi All,

I have a new Panigale V2 2024. Recently I went to take a coffee and 30 min after, my Panigale will not start. I had the dashboard ON. But when I tried to start the engine, the dashboard was going full dark, OFF.

The dealership person came, move manually my panigale to put it in the truck and after moving it 100ft, he was able to start it.

The battery was at 12.3V. When started, battery at 14.3V.

Bike went back to the shop. They told me the battery looks good. Gave back my bike. I check the dashboard and the battery was showing 12.3V again. My understanding being it should be at 12.5V. Engine starts ok.

Arrived at home. Battery at 12.3V. Decide to use Optimate 2 battery tender for 1H. Battery is going to 12.5V. Decide to leave it for the full night. Wake up this morning with battery at 12.1V based on info menu. Battery tender showing two green lights, Start the bike with no issue.

Ride, battery at 14.5V. Stop the bike for coffee and battery at 12.4V.

I come back home, battery at 12.5V after 1H the battery is at 12.3V. I put it back in battery tender.

Is it normal behavior or my battery has an issue?

DEF not normal man...my batt measures 13.0-14.0 all the time...except with cranking to start, drops to 11-12v for just a second...I have a voltage reader inline that i can turn on and read output...when bike is driving normally its always 13-14v.

I think your batt needs replaced.

when you say this: move manually my panigale to put it in the truck and after moving it 100ft, he was able to start it.

Do you mean he pushed it and dumped clutch to start it? that kinda bypass the low V issue...points to a BATT even more so...

Just to be clear and specific. The battery is at 14V and more when the engine is ON. No issue on that side.

My issue is the battery is at 12.1V or a little more when the engine is OFF.

Also, he pushed it in the street. Didn’t dump the clutch. Just moved it and suddenly he was able to turn it normally.

that is odd about moving it and then starting......and yes understood on the 14v when running...thats the alternator doing its job...being 12.1v OFF is a bad battery my man...

Thank you. I just charged it. Now the battery is at 12.5V when engine OFF.
Battery at 14.4V when engine ON.
Tender showing 2 green lights.
Removing the tender and will see later.

Your particular tender may never fully charge the battery. I have a "Battery Tender" brand one which took just over 6 days to charge my F-150 battery from sub 10 volts to over 13.

If your particular tender is stopping charging when the battery gets to 12, that's not the tool for the job.

It’s an Optimate 2 12V 0.8amp.

Also, the dealership tested the battery and told me it is ok and starting all the time so I’m a bit lost.

Sounds like a loose ground wire. 12.1V is fine for starting the bike. Moving the bike 100 feet that allowed it to start sounds like it moved the loose ground wire. My wife's R7 just experienced this. You might check the connections.

The one I have is about 0.8 A as well and it took about a week to charge the truck battery. Granted a motorcycle battery is smaller, but my tender didn't go into trickle mode until the battery was over 13 V.

Measuring the battery with a multimeter doesn't test it under load. If you take the battery to an auto parts store they can properly test it.

If it runs and starts as it should I don't know how worried I'd be about the exact battery voltage. Seems to be searching for a problem.

Makes sense. Thank you
