Battery Swap

just finished my second winter on the shorai, no charger, bike starts right up every time, holds a charge even if not cranked for a few weeks.

FYI, don't know if any of you do this, but shorai recommends to turn the key on BEFORE you put on your gear, as apparently it helps stimulate the battery. I usually put my highbeams on too and after 45 seconds start it up. I've checked the voltage on the panel and it definately makes a diff on cold mornings.

Interesting. I have been doing the exact opposite, thinking I'm just draining the battery.

I had another bike my Panigale battery would fit, so I went ahead and got the Shorai lithium. I was amazed how small and light it was. Probably .5lb compared to my Pani 4+ lb battery. It came wth several pads, to make sure it fit snug in the carrier.

Gents,
What is the lightest battery model and brand that anyone has had reliable starting with ?

thanks

Lfx14-a2

I have had problems with Shorai from the beginning. I first had the recommended Shorai fitted and if my bike stood for two days or more and I turned the key her display stayed dead.
Shorai exchanged the battery for a LFX14-A2 and the problem is still there so I keep her on the Shorai charger's maintenance program if I am not riding her.
Any thoughts about what could be wrong?

The LFX 14 is not the ideal battery for the liter bikes, I put the LFX18 (motowheels recommends) in my streetfighter a year and a half ago, never hook it up to a charger and it may sit a couple weeks between rides.

Do you have the gps data component set up on your bike, this is known to discharge a battery. Other than that should be no reason. Also, on cold mornings I do what shorai recommends and turn the key on BEFORE I put on my riding gear, as these batteries go into a kind of hibernation. This stimulates the battery. 45 seconds later and it fires right up.

Its just the standard Ducati Immobilizer that's on and one can not switch that off any way.
