Looking for option for battery tender/charger that plugs into the 1199s.

What do you mean "option"? A battery tender works perfectly...:) Had one for yrs...

Sorry, which one should I get to plug in when I am not riding for few weeks

I guess that is a standard tender plug. Does the ducati one plug into that or only under the seat?

What is the ideal amp for long term. Battery Tender has 1.25 or 5 amps

How about you do a little work here??? Google is your friend...:)

The google searched showed up minimal information. Under 2amps is what is recommended, but some discussions say 750mA (junior) is better for long term.

I also tried to find specs on the Ducati battery tender but found nothing.

For the Yuasa YT7B-BS 6.5AH battery the following is specified in the 1199 manual:
Normal charge = 0.7A for 5 to 10 hours (best for battery life).
Emergency charge = 3.0A for 1 hour (reduces battery life dramatically).
Charge the battery when the open circuit voltage drops below 12.8V

Note: The manual doesn't indicate whether or not the battery is in or out of the bike.

I've charged my battery (out of the bike) with a 1.25A battery fighter 4 step charger. The dealer I bought my bike from recommended CTEK multi-step chargers for use with Ducatis.

Thanks for details. I decided to get the junior battery tender to be on safe side. Will use that for winter storage.

If you want the one that plugs into the port under the tail on your bike, rather than running a separate lead from the battery, that is the Ducati Peformance battery charger:

Looking at the images, does this not still require you to run a lead from the battery, up through the rear subframe and out to where the DDA plug also exits (in the under seat cowl compartment), if so it's a lot more involved to fit than a simple tender lead which most attach by zip tie to the clutch hydraulic line and connect to the weatherproof plug at the end of this lead where it terminates, usually near the slave cylinder or somewhere that's easy to access.

Some dealers will put battery tender leads the bikes they send out. Looks likes your dealer did and forgot to mention it to you. I would ask them to supply the actual battery tender that fits to that lead as there are several different types of lead. Safe riding

The little Shumacher chargers at Walmart plug right into that plug. They charge at 2 amps then float off. You need a float charger. DO NOT use a pathetic trickle charger. This ain't 1970.

You can leave the battery in, but seal the terminals completely with Napa battery sealant.

these are badarse:

I have each of the above chargers. The little Shumacher will be fine for the Duc, and I'm pretty sure it's the same plug, just make sure the polarity matches how your pigtil is connected to the battery. Should have the same plug, if not, just chop the plug on your pigtail, and solder on a Deans connector (local hobby shop battery connector) or similar to each.

Do not use the DDA plug. You can only plug in so many times before it's toast. Why wear out a plug with your charger. Go straight to the battery by installing a pig tail and quick connector of some sort.
