Hey Fellas (and Lady Dutchess),

I never used to ride with music (since 1989) but started doing it when I moved back to Florida and the roads are just so straight and boring to get to the few twisties. Now I rather enjoy it and am looking to add to my playlist and wanted to know what you guys think are the best riding songs.

Of course this will have varied opinions and depends on your age and inclination, but gotta start somewhere. I'm an old rocker at heart but enjoy all genres - except Gospel :p:

Red Barchetta - Rush (this is my favorite imagery of blitzing mountain roads on any motorcycle)
Working Man - Rush (they just groove so hard on this song, it fits when you're "in the groove" on a mountain road)
Voodoo Chile - Stevie Ray Vaughan version
You Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC
Bodies - Drowning Pool (best pit box pre-race/track session "amp-up" music)
How Soon is Now? - The Smiths
Forty Six & 2 - Tool
All My Life - Foo Fighters

For the relaxing ride home - Little Wing or Riviera Paradise - Stevie Ray Vaughan

Let's hear your favorites, I need new music!

Cannot agree on your choices Steve... But music is sooooooooo subjective.. The one song I love but cannot listen to when riding is The Chain by Fleetwood Mac... If I listen to that song I end going 140+....ooops...

On my harley in FL, it's AC/DC, nickelback, iron maiden, some Garth brooks. On the 1199, I like the sound of the engine too much. :)

do you use headphones or a bluetooth device? what is that device if you use one? do give any feedback on either..... NICE tunes by the way how about SHOOT to THRILL instead of SHOOK ME- AC/DC and maybe AIN'T MY BITCH - Metallica

I listen to techno/trance. Generally makes me go too fast. Though honestly, I only listen to music when I'm putting around in safe conditions. Heavy traffic or spirited mountain riding, I don't listen to music.

My Harley has loud speakers. Irrelevant for this forum. I tried wired headphones on the 1199 and felt I could not hear anything around me. Cars or other danger. So I stopped using them.

Good suggestions already! I forgot a couple of Nickelback songs I really like, I'll add those to. Rick - Don't know too many techno songs by name but Blood Rave by Crystal Method is a kick-ass song.

I prefer wired earphones as I always ride with earplugs to cut wind noise (and save hearing of all things) and my current favorite earphones are the TDK EB900. They have boomy bass so your music sounds balanced when on the bike (I have Termi slip-ons, and most earphones that sound good off the bike have no bass when riding), but also very crisp mids and highs. I don't have to crank the volume to damage-leves to hear the music well. The best part is they come with Comply-brand earpieces which is a particular foam that is like earplug-type material. It is very comfortable and more importantly acts like an earplug and cuts most of the high-frequency sounds that cause hearing damage, i.e. wind noise at over 50 mph in most helmets. Comply even sells replacement earpieces for popular earphones and I've bought them before at Radio Shack for $10 per set.

The TDK EB900s are all over the internet from $39.99 to around $100, but I several sets of them at Marshall's (the discount clothing store) for $14.99 each - bargain! I put my phone in my inside jacket vest pocket, and can access the volume controls on the side of my phone by simply knowing where to press on the outside of my jacket. If I need to turn it down to talk to someone or hear things, and then jack it back up when I'm on the highway, it is easy to do.

Dude! Seriously?

hahaha this is awesome!

the best headphones I have ever had (for under a helmet) are the cheapest pair of sony hooks at walmart. $9.99. they hook around half your ear, usually come in blue, sometimes in black. they cut down on some wind but since they aren't inner ear plugs, I can still hear my bike. its my favorite combo. I had the Scala rider G9 Bluetooth unit. best investment ever. I took a girl for a ride, had no music playing, and didn't realize she knocked it off the side of my helmet (the expensive part) with her helmet until I got home. no idea where I lost it. since then I have just been back to the headphones. lol.

That was a fake quote...never would I like those peoples music..

lol.. :)

ok, I guess I owe a legit post after that one. I have a Sena SMH10 and use that paired with a Samsung Galaxy S4 on a RAM mount with Westone 1 earbuds. The setup works well for listening to tunes, taking calls, the occasional turn by turn directions if I get lost, etc. One thing I have noticed is that the Galaxy voice control is more sensitive than my old iPhone was so I have to pull in the clutch and let off the gas for some voice commands to be processed correctly.

Westones rock... and thanks for the hack..;)

dmx, early jay z before he became main stream classic a tribe called quest or das efx. is what i prefer. sprinkle in some montly crew def lepard bush and guns and roses and im complete. as far as headphones. go with ultimate ears custom. they work as earplugs and sound amazing. i have the ue 4 and the ue 5 hybrid which means they are hard plastic covered in soft rubbery material. fit perfect under helmet. you dont even need to listen to music if you dont they are custom ear plugs. 2 drivers and the more expensive ones have 3 dirvers per ear. a little more than the beats headphones which totally suck.

i plug them into my sena which bluetooths my phone and everythign is fine. my ue5 have the cord where i can control volume and skip tracks if i am not using the sena. i never ride without tunes unless i am on the track.

Anything by FFDP, Disturbed, Shinedown, Volbeat, A7X, Korn & Metallica.
Occasionally a little Three Days Grace, Thousand Foot Krutch.

Basically anything loud as hell that gets my blood going.

I keep my sleepy ass country music for when I'm in my car -_-

I'm getting old....

The only music I want to listen to when riding is the sound of two massively over-square pistons reciprocating in the cylinders. Everything else just pales. :)

FFDP, tool, chevelle, anything in the rock genre, occasionally I do listen to some techno.... It really helps get you into the zone, every now and then I'll listen to some Jay-z or eminem....just depends on the day
