Bike Sometimes wont shift into 6th

I have a 2014 1199 S model. Its a track only bike and recently I've had a few laps where the bike wont shift into 6th. It is stuck in 5th, RPM's high and wont shift into 6th even if I pull the clutch in. Then the next lap it works fine. I really don't understand what makes it happen as its only sometimes and things seem the same to me each lap minus not being able to get into 6th.

Anyone else with the same issue? Any idea on what would cause this?

I've read one or two other people having the same problem but I believe it was on an 899 forum. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

its just a guess
but maybe oil pressure? or worse a loose gear cog...

Well I guess I'll be taking it into the dealer to have them sort out the issue. Thanks for your response Charleston1199. I'll post back up after I figure it out

Have you checked your shift linkage?? Is it loose maybe???

Just had this issue come up for the first time this weekend.

First time out with the Blipbox, and thought maybe that was the issue, but after more research it's probably the gear position sensor. It needs to be recalibrated or replaced by the dealer.

This bike has a 6th gear ?

Well I kinda had an issue with gear shifts.. Bleeding the clutch fluid seems to resolve it. It does act up every 600ish miles

I have been keeping an eye on the whole rearset on both sides as I had some problems initially with them. Since it only happens sometimes and I went through a couple track days with no problems to begin with but its now arising I'm not sure that would be it. I will double check that in the morning though. Thanks STW

I am going to be taking my bike into the dealer in the morning so I will talk to them about the gear position sensor and see what they have to say. Thanks Jamesz

I think the bike has 6th but who knows, it could all be a dream

I had just flushed fluids on the whole bike. I suppose I could try doing the clutch fluid again but I'm not sure when I will be able to go to a track again at the moment. Thanks Melvinakshay

Just make sure that you take your foot completely off the gear shift. Pressure on it between shifts will cause this and it mostly manifests in the 5th to 6th shift.

Thanks for the responses guys. Bike is sitting at the dealer waiting in line to be worked on. They're pretty backed up so I wont get a response soon unfortunately. I will post up when I hear back though. Thanks again.
