Anyone with a Bimota (especially a DB8) getting an 1199?

Anyone heard anything on the next Bimota with an 1199 donk?

nope...

In past bimoto build superb chasis to allow the engine performace to be explioted to the max...
now i think most OEM has got thier chasis right and even better.

The pani's is one of those..
stick to the original:)

Yeh, that aligns with my thinking.

Their marketing the DB8 SP for about $48k in Australia (versus $42k for the 1199 Tricolore) and whilst it would be appealing if there was no new 1199 it seems hard to compare against the 1199, even the Tricolore.

Base specs for DB8 SP v 1199 as pretty much:

Not much difference in power
DB8 SP is a bit heavier
1199 Tricolore has more enhancing "gadgets"
Handling could be a close thing
DB8 SP is more expensive

The Bimota looks niceish, though the 1199 looks way better (yeh, my opinion!)

So wondering when Bimota will be doing deals on DB8 SP and/or bringing out the 1199 version.

Only by way of "wondering" as I'm not contemplating cancelling my order for the Tricolore

Bimota DB8SP Signature

Hi Gentlemen my first post on this forum, I met the boys from Bimota, Urban Moto at the Superbikes at Phillip Island, where I received 5k off the ride away price on the DB8 SP that had all the goodies on it and custom built to my specs, weight, height etc.

Not sure if still valid but ask about 5k off, so it's under 45k, will be recieving mine in 3 weeks, can't wait.

For now I think they will wait and see how the engine performs in the panni from what I am told, but I do know that the DB8 SP has performance factory race kit that produces over 200Hp with 151 kg, and it's proven so good enough for me and it's frame or carbon subframe is amazing for a hand built bike.

Curious to see how the 1199 performs in coming months.

Thanks Bimota

It'd be interesting to hear how the bike feels. Can you update us once you've got it?

cheers

Hi Peted,

I have riden it a few weeks ago (the press bike), the most amazing point that got me was the lightness, feels lighter than a 250 and handling in the short ride I had, wooow.

Power, forget about it, heaps (especially due to it's weighless frame) but handling and weight setup, off the charts in the corners Pete, I wanted something special to keep, that's different and I love hand made crafted pieces, but that's me.

Also I won't ride it everyday, however it feels easy to ride and tame but goes nuts when you open it up, yet controlable.

They did have an Oronero on the floor last week, omg, what an impressive unit, I couldnt stop looking at it, all hand made carbon fibre. Picture in link

Bimota ... some useful news, many thanks

So at that price it (DB8 SP) really could be a near equal contender to an 1199 Tricolore with many similarities of power etc etc and still with a few differences such as different styling emphasis, although still a mix of white and red (not much green on the Bimota).

Like you I appreciate those finely machined bits which combine engineering with being works of art. Both the 1199 and the DB8SP have those things although the Bimota to a higher degree.

Makes me wonder even more.

One of each perhaps ?!?!? (But I don't think I could get that past "upper management" - which would make the better steed for carrying a pillion ???? that could clinche the deal !!!)

Be interested in hearing more on the Bimota - and the Oronero is stunning (and I don't normally find black bikes or cars hold all that much appeal)

cheers

ps: So it has the power of the 1199 Tricolore but without the smoke ?

Bimota DB8 Biposta Pic and Video

Pete I know there is also the Biposta DB8 same as the SP but in a two seater with all the upgrades of the SP. With the race exhaust upgrade we are honestly talking about 204+ Hp from a factory titanium system with 151 kg that is reliable and tested that's the big difference, no disrespect to anyone but you heard the saying never buy the first of a new model always wait that 6 months or so till a few have been out and tested and all bugs sorted, I love Ducs but in this case I would watch and see too many unknowns at present, not to mention how many new parts sorted from let's say not Italy.

When you weigh up power these goliaths are more than anyone can handle, buy what makes you grin from ear to ear I say, for me it's definitely a hand made custom built to me from Italy 100% the only problem is you must wait for it to be built.

it is easy to be impressive on paper.love to see DB8SP race in sstk, have a run with the others and see how consistent + reliable it is for the entire season..if not is just talk....

the problem with Bimota is resale. for people on the know, they would understand why the price is a bit higher than a Ducati but for the average consumers. they will pay a higher price for a Ducati than a bimota. so if there are no bike enthusiast who likes "finer" things in life in your area, you are screwed.
