Bolt stuck to oil drain drain magnet

Just a follow up: Ducati requested the clutch side engine cover be removed, (by the Duc tech/service mgr at my purchasing dealership). He found no damage or missing bolts. I’m considering how to proceed wt Ducati.

For myself, I don’t know that the bolt didn’t fall out of a different part of the drivetrain, and would like reassurances against any potential damage that could be caused by a missing bolt, or an extra bolt that was potentially left inside the engine during assembly.
Observation's will be greatly appreciated.

I can’t think of what benefit an oil analysis would be in this specific circumstance.

If they have the right side cover off, it wouldn’t be a hard task to take off the oil pan and oil pump and inspect the mesh filter.

They acknowledged it was there and it shouldn't have been. I would just ride the bike like it was stolen, if anything comes up, you have that recorded.
Maybe push for an extended warranty beyond the basic one. I don't think there are many other bolts it could have been besides what the one user posted.
It's a shame cause now it will always be in the back of your mind, Ducati can't fix that. If your dealer did the oil change, do you think they would have told you they found the bolt? Or just noted it and waited to see if anything further came of it.

That type of bolt internally seems odd..they're usually a black oxide finish and not knurled. With a smaller diameter bolt head there "should" be a washer on the assembly, but there wasn't one on the drain plug. It would be system specific if indeed fell out. Do you have any measurements? Any stampings showing the bolt grade?

Oil analysis will tell you what metals are floating around and if there’s excessive wear. Would send this initial one, one at 1k mi, and 2k mi to see a trend.

I’d also get the dealer to pop off the left side as bagger mentioned to check if it’s a stator bolt. And make Ducati give you that extended warranty. It’s the least they could do and shows that they have faith in their product.

Part number for the stator bolt is 71950370CF

This doesn't look the bolt found in the drain pan

There's 6 bolts for the coil housing - PN 77253290ZF - I don't have a photo of those, but I don't think the bolt found in the drain pan would be correct for torquing that assembly together. The thread length isn't there to attach the coil housing onto the hub. See #4 bolting to #1

Nevermind on pulling the left cover. Good point.

I have a disassembled long block (no outer cases) and find no internal bolts of that configuration. But I don't have the outer cases. A similar bolt is used externally.

I appreciate your replies. I’m just going to ride it and see if I can push them along for an additional extended warranty on top of the two that come with the motorcycle. Personally, it doesn’t tax me at all, as I always hope for the best.
