Hi all,

Noticed a weird grinding noise on hard brake last time I rode. Did a quick inspection and it looks like I need some new pads. I ride 100% on the street. Mostly commuting/fun with the occasional canyon run. So I don't need anything race-inspired here... Should I stick with the stock brembo pads, or is there a (cheaper) alternative that is jsut as good? Figured I'd ask instead of blindly hit the dealer to purchase oem pads. Thanks in advance.

The OEM Brembo pads are really pretty good. If you want an alternative with similar performance, I'd recommend the SBS HS sintered pads. If you want more bite, then the SBS RS pads.

I run my 14' 1199 R only at the track and I've been running Versah SRJL-XX pads, I bought them from Kurvy Girl Racing, they are fantastic (but expensive!). I talk to a WSBK rider from time to time in Italy and he loves the Brembo Z06 pads.

Versah RJL are what I'm using on my RSV4 on the track and like them. Around $150 for the set for the Panigale. A step down from the SRJL-XX and also cheaper and may be a good street/track pad option. I have a set of the SRJL-XX that I'm gonna try next to compare. I thought about the trying the Brembo Z06 but those are around $250 a set from what I've seen.

I found this to be helpfull:
ROGUE RACING Brake Pads Review Page

Vesrahs are very hard to come by though (in Europe) at a decent price. Best price I could find was 200€. I'm not sure they're worth that.

I settled for CL C60 at 140€. They didn't arrive in time though for my last trackday, so I can't comment on them.

Thanks guys. I went with the Versah RJL for the fronts. Quite a bit cheaper than OEM at my dealer, and based on the feedback here, I'm sure they will do me fine for my use.

Figured I'd ask here since there's already a thread on brake pads...

I've been running the EBC GPFAX pads on my track only bike and I'm approaching time for new pads. I'm thinking about going with the Brembo Z04 setup. Anyone gone from EBC GPFAX or EPFA pads to the Z04 pads and got a review? or any Z04 users want to convince me that there's some other awesome pad out there that I need to try first?

Well, I can't say anything about the Z04 but you may want to look at the RJL-XX and try them as they are a fair bit cheaper.

I had Z04's on an 1199R which exclusively used on the track. To be honest, they might suit someone in the fastest groups, but that's not me... very grabby if you need a bit mid corner, and they work best when hot. I changed to the EBC EPFA and prefer these.

Brembo oem unless you are a track nut, then anyway yiu should be upgrading your masters and calipers.
