Brembo GP Calipers & HPK rotors

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Hmm ... I am pondering going full bore and replicating the entire braking system that I have on my 1098 on the 1199, *if* I can maintain DTC and ABS, which would be Brembo RCS Masters, GP Lines, upgraded Clutch slave, Nickel GP4-RX, Brembo HPK rotors and Titanium Bango & Bleed Nipples, pins and rotor bolts.

Dont forget the starter switch too for the Pani because the RCS wont fit because the lever will hit the throttle body when you pull the lever. If you go to a thinner Race Start Stop switch the RCS Master Cylinder will fit just fine and the levers will clear the throttle body. I put the RCS Masters on mine and found this problem. I ordered the Course Dynamics Race switch but they were crap but Jarel hooked me up like the ones he have on his bike. I am waiting for them to come in (less than a week). Im also changing out my brake system on the Pani.

Oh yeah - scrapperX says is true. if you switch out the MC's, that damn start/stop switch is too damn big and thick. you have a couple options with getting an 1199 switch that will work. But you will want that unless you can somehow get a replacement lever that is different than the standard ones that are supplied. It's the same reason that the panigale OEM levers are ever so slightly shaped different than all the other Ducati levers out there (to clear the handlebar switches).

That

ScrapperX & Anthem,

Thanks for the heads-up on the GP switch. I have attached a photo of the ones I think your referring to ? Please confirm.

ScrapperX, when you get them fitted can you let me know as I will almost certainly follow your lead here. I want to retain the Brembo RCS as I like the 18-20 switch mode. Could you also PM mw with contact and reference details so I can source (Ducati Omaha ?). Thanks !

BTW my bike is having the 41T sprocket fitted and new ECU upmap done, I have requested filename references, etc and I will post as soon I am in receipt.

Thanks !

Are you sure this causes the brake piston to engage sooner or just the brake switch ? I think this is a mechanical switch vs a pressure brake switch for operating brake lights.

Good correction, I believe to engage the brake light .. This is what the product description says (and all the info I have) :

" Description

If you have ever used a pressure switch in your brake system you know they don't work until the brake lever is nearly touching the bar, this mechanical system solves all of the failed performance seen with the pressure switch.

Utilizing a Brembo micro switch and CNC machined components this kit allows use of a mechanical switch on your aftermarket GP master cylinder.

Kit installs very easy by removing the factory lever pivot and replacing with this pivot and switch assembly, dial in the exact engagement via the adjustable pivot and your ready for years of safe brake light actuation."

That being said - while that item doesn't do it - most of the brembo lever/cylinder combos are adjustable in terms of getting brake sensitivity activation (though not strength and feel - which you need the 18/20 or adjustable rcs to do).

Agreed :D

I ordered these:

Anthem, ScrapperX,

I know Anthem and I are looking at replacing the rear caliper. It looks like one has to have a custom brake line with a couple more inches to accommodate the new positioning angle of the banjo/bleed bolt ! Just a point to double check.

Im looking to replace my rear caliper and MC. I believe you are right.

what's the purpose of replacing the rear caliper, the stock seems as good as it needs to be for streetbike, and how much use does the rear get on the track by most riders?

Just curious.

What ? You don't back it in or stabilize the bike using the rears ???? (Kidding). I believe mostly at this point, it is to st least have the front and rear matching. The rear is much cheaper than the front calipers so nowhere near as large a commitment.

I gotcha!

Yeah, I wish I could back it in on the track, it's all I can do to keep from falling over when I'm out there. Just like all the instructors memorize reference points for every corner at every track I ride, I'm too old and my memory not good enough :(

haha - nothing wrong with looking good too :). Besides, I'll freely admit my bike, gear, equipment far outstrips my talent to use them. . .. I do use the rear though - but only on the street.

The p2 34 billet 2 piece rear is also on my list .. But just to match the front . This one is the low cost solution . The p4 24 rear needs the special holders that will fit the 1198rs and cost x5 in total ...
