Hi everyone

I've done some searches for reviews of the BrenTuning system for the 1199 and haven't found a whole lot. I currently have a 2013 with the full termi system and sprint filter. The bike was (and still) in great condition when I got it last Christmas, but felt the ridability was pretty awful. I had a tuner dyno it with the Woolich system which made some great improvements, but I feel there's probably still some improvement opportunities to exploit.

So I started checking and what little I could find on BT sounded great, but there didn't seem enough to pull the trigger. So my question is really, does anyone have any accurate feedback on the BT system, noting that some comments I've had are that the bike runs a lot better than stock already?

Further, is there anyone in the Brisbane area running the same mods with a tune they think is awesome (BT or otherwise)?

I've attached the dyno chart so if anyone sees any notable differences can you let me know?

That flat spot between 5600-8000 rpm is HUGE!
I particularly like how noticeable it is rolling on through a corner......

There's also little change between the original curve (UpMap) and the retune in that area

I fitted a rapid bike module to my 1199 and a 1299 and it worked really well . Ran very strong and a lot smoother.

Also something I'm considering, but I tried the Autotune feature on a previous bike and found it doesn't always give great results. RB isn't far from my place, but if others have better torque curves than mine it'll help guide which way I'll go

Here's a 30 page dumpster fire of a thread on BT:

Honestly I tuned out (not sure if the pun was intended) when all the BT bashing and defending started. I'm not interested in anything more than honest ridability reviews and comparisons on the different tunes. I'd really like to see a graph where the huge flat spot is tuned out

Thanks for the offer, but I'm based in Australia so it'd be cheaper to buy BT and RP and try them both out

ok cool. I’ll say this. The Brenn on my 1299 doesn’t make the dead spot around 7K disappear but it’s definitely a lot more powerful than b4 the tune (at the dead spot)

for me it’s an ease of use thing

Yeah, I'm not really interested in full throttle top end numbers, I just think it could be smoother than it currently is

yeah it definitely can be smoother but being a big twin it still retains its “character” or lawn tractor like feel

I think the tune especially unlocks low RPM range power more so than top end power. Not that I can even handle the power it produces stock. But I can basically power wheelie now from just above idle. It’s insane, feels like it wants to shoot out from under me

Im extremely interested in this topic. I've been talking to Kev about this. I'm debating between the Brentune and a custom dyno tune (from HSBK). I've heard both good and bad about Bren. I want to get rid of that dead spot in the middle as well as add a little power. The Bren also has the ability to lower the temp at which the fan kicks on. I would really like to see some dyno comparisons of Bren. I can't seem to find much.

Certainly not expecting inline 4 smooth, but the delivery should still be consistent without surging/hunting
If you do go with Bren, maybe post up some results to see how it is actually performing. I know a bunch of us like hearing "better rideability" and "smoother", but I'd like to see what the actual curve looks like. Ill try to post up my results whichever way I go.

I'm probably going back to the original tuner to see if we can refine the sub 6k rpm area. I've spoken directly with BT, Rapid Bike, and another dyno tuner with 2/3 saying this was the best way to go. It must be as they each could have made some coin it if it and declined.

The custom Woolich tune can lower your fan on temp too. Mine starts at 95°C. I haven't seen 100°C on the screen since and that's during Aus summer.

Yeah thats what Im leaning towards also. Hope you get it figured out brother. Post up results!

HSBK really knows their stuff. They've been building MA/WSBK level machines for awhile now. I bought a 675R AMA DSB bike from them and the attention to detail was better than anything I've ever seen. That would hands down be the route I would go if you're close to them.

Yessir! I've been talking to them for a while now. Exactly what I was thinking. Ill be setting up my appointment soon. Still need to get my cans off and sent to @Phl . I've been busy with a recent move. HSBK is about 30 minutes from me and they were who I originally wanted to go with. They just told me the other day that they couldn't change the fan on temperature. But I'm okay with not having it. Glad to hear your experience was so good.
