Coming out of retirement a running my Panigale in F1 and Motoeuro. I last race in 1997 in the NZGP on a Honda RS125, was privelledged to watch Briggs and Stroud pilot a blue Britten, and black beauty. The previous years NZGP (1996) I raced a GSXR 750 against Andrew Stroud on the Britten.

Looking forward to the weekend and to have 6 Britten's in there home town. We will be able to remember the passing of such an amazing man which will be 20 years ago thus September.

He was, lucky enough to have known him, have a few guys I ride with that worked on the bikes, and where else would you have drunken lads hanging over a one off masterpiece, yip correct, local bike rally in the South Island of New Zealand LOL.

I was told from a very good source that John met several times at his place with Ducati designers (one that designed the Panigale) to share ideas, some of which I could say we do see on the Panigale.

Carl, that photo is classic. When and where was that taken and who is the backwards pilot with a can of CD?

Guy

Lee Smith in the Pink jacket (JDL Design jamesleedesign.co.nz |) who supplied this photo.
Troy on the crutches (RIP)
Lee Munroe on the Ducati (fast rider!!! With be at the memorial racing his 999)
Nigel Evans on the Britten I think.

I think from memory Corey Taylor and Dave from Cycletreads were taking into either levels or Terotonga and asked by John to put it on display at the local pub who the owner was a mad fan, he had a mirror etched with the Britten on it that John saw, they then went to the camp site the day before and well it ended up being the centre of attention/bar stool.

The safest place was with them I would say.

Any photos from the weekend Carl? Particularly any of the "old guys" from the 70's and early 80's. Getting nostalgic!
