Man that picture tells a story about neglection! 800 km, traction control set to 8, no quickshifter, ABS on maximum? Poor thing..... Very pretty though, go out and abuse her! View attachment 38696

The sorry to this bike goes like this as I was told ,

Man bought the bike , didn't tell wife , wife found out . Told him she would leave him if he didn't sell it [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

He kept the bike at his friends shop for 9 years hoping for a change of heart from wife , well that didn't happen .

Bike wasn't even listed for sale , I found out from a Mutual acquaintance and I went to go see the guy convinced him to sell it to me .

Only one owner , bike still Had tires from 2012 . I consider this a barn find.

Early on I told my good lady to never say "It's me or the bike", coz you won't win. To be fair, she never has, and nowadays doesn't even care (she says!) how much I spend on it. Lucky guy!
And she's nearly as fast.....

To those saying the 1199 does not have both up and down quickshift, my 2012 1199S does have both up and down quickshift, and I’m 99.99% sure it has no aftermarket tune. Just for a point of reference.

Well then my bike must have some sort of aftermarket tune or aftermarket quick shifter because it is not false. I tested it just last week.

I'm not sayin your bike havin it is false. I'm sayin that your claim about any stock 1199 regardless of year having up n down shifts is false. Up n down became available on the 1299.

In order to achieve bi-directional quick shifting on these bikes then, does only the software need upgrading, or does the gearshift sensor also need to be upgraded to achieve this? I’ll post a picture here of my gearshift sensor ASAP.

Both software and gearshift sensor.

Blows my mind people allow themselves in these predicaments. I could never imagine living under someone's thumb like that.
My best buddy growing up was going to get into sport bikes with me, his gf - not even wife told him hell no, would leave him etc.
Here is the kicker, she had her motorcycles license and a motorcycle, said she was selling it. took her two years.

If that doesnt flash warning abort abort i dont know what does.

A chick I dated for a while was LIVID when I bought my V4. She was pissed and couldn't understand why I would buy a motorcycle for that much money when I could just get a car instead. She would try to convince me to sell it every other week. We broke up a few weeks after I spent nearly 5k for the exhaust system on it, lmao.

Fast forward years later, told my wife "I'm gonna turn the V4 into a track bike so I need to buy another bike for commuting."

Her response: "Okay, but it has to be red!"

Someone who wants you to abandon a passion is someone you have no business staying with.

Understand that you can upshift and downshift without using the clutch without a quickshifter. I've done it on all my bikes. 1199's only came stock with upshift quickshifter.

Can you explain the difference? I thought quickshifting was the ability to shift without using the clutch.

I haven't tried the bike yet , some people say up shift and down others say only up .

I try it in a few days and report back .

In order to shift up through the gears, the load on the transmission from the engine needs to be alleviated. This can be done two different ways: using the clutch, or quickly rolling off the throttle. Both methods will allow upshifts. An old school term for shifting without the clutch is "powershifting." A quickshifter will temporarily kill the engine while you upshift. The quickshifter is essentially "rolling off the throttle" for you. A quickshifter is a computer controlled add on.

In all the bikes I have ridden on track I have used clutchless upshifting, pre loading the gear lever then a slight roll off of throttle and pop the next gear is selected .
It really isn't much difference in time to a quick shifter , I have quick shifters on my modern bikes now but I was left with a bad taste in my mouth and back pocket after having a bike with an after market quick shifter that wore the dogs down on the gears destroying the box.
Now I have two bikes one with auto blip for downshifts RSV4 and the Pani without , the auto is so smooth amazing but in some cases I prefer the manual downshift as it enables a bit of control in some situations with a slower clutch release enabling you to step the rear out and slid a bit on corner entry .
