Buying a new V4 base

I'm thinking about buying a 2022 V4 base. Called up a dealer. Was told that no dealers will be holding stock. As in, they are ship on order/payment only.

Want to make sure that lines up here across other dealers within the US in the first instance. And then if so, it sounds like my chance of negotiating price is basically zero here. But interested if anyone has had a different experience on the 22 line.

There is a worldwide shortage of new bikes, basically its a sellers market at present. Maybe for last years stock you could get a deal but forget about 2022.

22's are by order only. IF a dealership has one in stock its either already sold or one that was ordered and the buyer backed out.

Have you tried a Canadian Dealer? Your USD is favorable over the CAD so even if there was any import/duty fee it probably wouldn't cost you more.

I have sold Cars to US Buyers before and also bought Cars from US Sellers and imported them into Canada. The Import/Export process is very straight forward. The Computers on modern Cars/Bikes allow you to switch from MPH or KMH with ease.

Just a thought..

I wouldn't be against something like that. Looks like retail in CAD is $26,495 for the base. Before I start exploring, would anyone know approx. OTD from a Canadian dealer?

I got one here in Australia after being told they were order only. Maybe someone backed out I didn't ask but I rang the dealer and they said they had one coming in in 2 weeks and 2 weeks later it turned up.

That is the price, in Canada well at least in the Province of Ontario where that Ad is from they have to quote the OTD prices which includes Admin, Freight yada-yada-yada LOL

Not true, you need to read the fine print

You will find the same stock shortages in Canada as well (Ontario anyway). Nobody in the Toronto area had them on the floor for stock, and will only bring one in with a deposit. Apparently Ducati is one of the better manufacturers right now getting units to dealers as long as they are spoken for. I put down my deposit April 2nd and was just told that my shipping date is May 13th. The wait is killing me!

Testiesalmon.....no deals in Ontario on 2022’s. $27,495 plus 13% sales tax....so $31,000 OTD.

Each Ducati Dealer is different, the one I looked up includes those fees and a buyer from outside of Province does not pay Tax either as long as it can be proven the Bike is being Sold/Delivered outside of the Province.

Literally signed up to respond to this. I work (sales manager) for a very large Motorcycle corp. in the south east of the USA. I've purchased a Ducati 959 in 2017 and a Ducati V4 in 2019 (all for Ducati employee discount as we sell the Ducati brand). I had to purchase my 2022 from Dallas, TX - just as any other customer no discounts full price. All due to the sheer amount of pre-orders we had on the 2022 V4s. Wouldn't be right to skip the line or stop someone else from getting theirs. Our allocations are slim at best and they have a shortage on parts to help complicate the matter. Ironically Dallas was the ONLY dealership in the southeast to have JUST ONE in stock and that was do to a customer not being able to get financed. I say all this to say, no you're not going to be negotiating anything. Be happy you're able to even get your hands on one.
