Congrats! Can I ask you your main motivation for the swap?

Mainly size. Not riding street an I think the 1199 is just too much for the track

Neat bike, but I come from the school that I always want 10% more horsepower than I have. But in fairness, except for very good riders, most people will likely turn at least as fast lap times on the 6XX.

Selling the 1199 to buy a 675R is like trading in a 458 Italia for a BR-Z, like giving up Thor's Hammer for Wonder Woman's lasso. I had a 675 and loved it, but one ride on the 1199 changed that forever. I don't get it.

I too don't get it. I had a 2010 675SE and there's just no comparison. The only logical explanation would be the risk of crashin a 675R being more forgiving both emotionally and financially but no other reason makes any sense. Even then, insurance would take over anyway. If it was power, put it in wet mode and it has almost the same power output as the 675R. There's no Weight savings and I highly doubt your riding capabilities can justify any difference in suspension performance from one to the other. I love the 675R and would love to own one but one thing is for certain, like AntiHero stated, I'd never ditch the 1199 to go to a 675...even if it is an R.

My current track bike is an '09 675 with upgraded Ohlin's suspension front and rear. Such an easy bike to ride, I actually like it better than the 1199 right now. The steering on the 1199 isn't quite as sharp and confidence-inspiring at the moment, and my guess is that it's due to the longer trail. The 1199 is probably better on a bigger more sweeping track. I'd like to put a triple tree on the 1199 that I can adjust for less rake at tighter tracks, I think that would help with the handling.

nice, that fully built 675 from rider discount is gonna be a fun bike, something you can definitely push harder around the track then the 1199. congrats on the bike!

good luck to you. hope your happy with your choice. not much more for me to say that anti hero and double 0 havnt already said.

if you're saying you picked up the rider's discount 675, I know that bike well. It's a built up bike but no 1199 and not going to feel much "smaller" than the duc on track. But like others have said, to each their own as long as you're happy with your decision.

cheers

The 1199 likes a bit more weight on the front. Try changing the geo a bit...we dropped the front 11mm and raised the rear 4mm and made a big difference. In conjunction with a slightly stiffer spring, stopped the rocking that's common with the bike.

Oh, you're the lucky ....... who picked up the Rider's Discount 675. That changes things a bit. Strike what I said about Wonder Woman's Lasso. That's no ordinary 675R.
