Carbon Fibre Parts - CDT

Help Support Ducati Forum:

From what I read from the review. Carbonvani was not all that great to compared to CDT, Shif-tech, and etc.

I saw a CDT review where a tail didn't fit and was returned on another forum. *shrug* I guess it depends on which batch you get, etc.?

I think you generally go on advice here and price - if it comes in and you don't like it, return it. Examples: Keyguard RC = $109, DP = $199, Exhaust heatshield RC = $131, CDT = $298

Nope!

From what I read from the review. Carbonvani was not all that great to compared to CDT, Shif-tech, and etc.

My first choice was Carbonvanni until I spent some long talks with the owner of Motowheels who schooled me up on the qualities of CDT over them. I have not read or heard one complaint on CDT though have Carbonvanni. But as Trauma said there may be an "off" batch every now and again made.

WHo has what in stock is the thing right now. Its generally about 3-4 weeks out on most CDT from what Im told. Made a purchase yesterday from Nick on what he had in stock.

Dude forgive my memory, but what is RC?

Not all carbon fibre is the same , some manufacturers in uk don't even have an autoclave . Cdt produce sbk spec stuff . You should also see the "glass fibre" produced by cdt it is also autoclaved so it is as light as carbon but gets around euro superstock rules banning cf.
ps I don't sell cdt stuff !

I have all Genuine DP on my 1199. I am however interested in getting carbon for the non-DP parts, I concur with most on this forum it looks like CDT (satin) is the way too go.

I have all Genuine Ducati Corse Factory, Ducati Performance and CDT (gloss) on my 1098 - The CDT carbon is quality and matches with Ducati Corse & Performance.

I went with CDT [all gloss] in the end. Put my order in & it will be ready for when I return. Ordered:

Front fender
Rear hugger
Reservoir mounts
Key guard
Suspension guard

I only buy Shiftech CF
Its only slightly more expensive than the rest but the quality ( and service ) is the best.....................

I concur with this statement 110% man! #1

IMHO Ducati Performance is the most expensive and is the highest quality - period (money where mouth is). Second is CDT.

Shift-Tech is not the most expensive. I was going to go with Shift-Tech myself, however now it is CDT (due to a wide variety of parts and my experience with their products).

However, Gunny, .. even though we don't agree on pretty much anything .. ha ha. I find your advice very inconsistent .. first you state CDT is in your opinion the best and then now you saying Shift-tech ?

For example you state "Putting together my list and deal on all CDT Carbon IN GLOSSY finish right now as a metter of fact. Just ran across this thread while doing some last minute homework!

IMHO of doing countless hours of research, CDT has the best fitment and rep out of everyone else I checked with. Carbonvanni fitment often needs a bit of dremel work and such to mount up spot on. After this I will be entirely complete with the Tri build !!

Anyone seeking a great source (not least expensive source though) feel free to PM me for a POC. Nothing better than dealing with a VERY reputable and reknown organization when it comes to parts for your high end machine! "

So what is it Gunny .. ShiftTech or CDT ?? I am just trying to work out where you coming from ?

DISCLAIMER : CaliDuc does not receive discounts or sell parts.

Come on guys - it's just fancy plastic. All in the eyes of the beholder.. Cali, you are spending WAY too much time analyzing what people say about it (IMHO). Just say you think DPs best, and get on with it. I think all of you pay too much $$$ for CF, and I think Gloss only belongs on a show bike, but that's just my opinion. I don't care what anyone else says, or if they change their mind :) Remember what Voltaire said...

Oh where do I even begin?
Surely was not what I expected to start my day, nor know why pointing out such a ridiculous misspoken comment is so worth it.

However, I will admit that my statement is in conflict of my previous ones, as so thoroughly noted in the carefully researched bit of into you went so far to look up and paste here. A very clear indication of your intent to start .... with me on a personal level. I am trying hard to remember (which is difficult with a memory clouded by a TBI) if I have ever publicly called you out or blatantly said something to embarrass or insult you. If so would you please PM that to me instead of airing any personal issues out for all to see?

What I SHOULD have done in the post I made last night, which apparently really triggered you off, was to specify where I was coming from by only highlighting "but the quality ( and service ) is the best"
That was the part of his comment that I agreed upon and meant in my reply. Would you please forgive my misinterpreted error dear sir?

I was going to search thru all my posts on Shift Tech carbon to obtain comments I had made regarding the level of professionalism and education the owner of Shift Tech has shown me over the last few months, but I honestly didnt think that was so worth the trouble. So YES. this post:

"I concur with this statement 110% man! #1" at first glance obviously differs from my feelings on CDT. Therefore, since we "dont seem to agree on anything" in your statement- I surely need you to understand where I am coming from or I wont be able to sleep at night!

"So what is it Gunny .. ShiftTech or CDT ?? I am just trying to work out where you coming from ?"

Actually, I dont really know why you would give a .... what I think, or want to understand where I am "coming from" if you dont agree with anything I say or go to such great lengths to point out errors of my forum posts other than to start .... with me? So to appease you, or anyone else that must NEED to know where I am "coming from" these are my thoughts on carbon:

DP carbon, though well made has just as many flaws as aftermarket. My good friend Duc1199 here received a DP swingarm guard last week that didnt come anywhere near fitting. If it didnt cost so damn much I'd go down to my garage right now and remove the DP stuff I have mounted and throw it in the damn trash I hate the ...... ... clearless matte finish so much!

Carbonvanni has good pieces and clearcoat finish but worst of all fitment. :(

CDT is best in my opinion (despite the contradictory seven words I wrote regarding Shift Tech) and is the primary source of carbon I use/purchase. :D

Thankfully, I have spent hundreds of hours of communication with Guido who is the owner / operator of Shift Tech Carbon. This man has thoughtfully gone so far out of his way to break down EVERYTHING about carbon fiber, and without ever pushing his own product, educate me on what to look for -both good and bad- inside the massive carbon industry today. For that I thank him and have posted my thanks numerous times within this site, just as I did last night, BUT I did not clarify exactly what I was saying which subsequently confused members of this fine forum. For that I will flog myself and apologize to Cali Duc and anyone else.
Oh yes, I have also purchased several pieces of the Shift Tech and truly think it is a quality product as well. :D

Thank you Trauma for your statement about it being just fancy plastic, which it truly is. You know how we all joke and chide each other over the "glossy vs matte" finish and the poll I posted and lost-lol. I get a chuckle out of those comments and def chalk it up to the infamous phrase "to each their own, or matter of personal opinion, etc, etc" so thats all good fun. However, I see that someone has drawn a line in the sand which is sad to say the least. Reminds me of another member I'd rather not discuss. So, rather than argue over petty BS and say what I really think in detail, I will close now - HOPING that I have satisfied the curiosity of anyone so confused by my conflicting comments on what MY choice of carbon fiber is.

Should anyone have any questions on this issue, what brand of socks I wear, or anything else I may have mis-stated somewhere within this forum, please do everyone a favor and PM me so we dont argue in public and end up looking like a couple of infants. After all, even infants think both CDT and Shift Tech Carbon fiber are great choices for their Panigale right????

I truly hope this issue ends here and now. None of us like to read these stupid little squabbles that go on and on. Gotta run folks, have to go celebrate Presidents Day by picking up a new 27" iMac! :D

Ps. The attached blurry pic is TRULY the best carbon fiber there is! My friend Nick lost both legs from an IED and now has two carbon fiber legs from the knee down. Not sure what brand they are but will find out and get back to you all asap!

If anybody wants to sell their crappy DP matte finish carbon so they can upgrade let me know - I am looking for a couple pieces (shock and clutch cover).

Oh that was certainly a perfectly timed comment man! NOT!

If we are going to chime in, my humble opinion is that After research and countless posts on this forum I have concluded that for me Shiftech is the way to go. Price is fair (10% off)and free freight and of the 3 pieces I purchased i must say that the quality couldn't be better. I have never bought any CDT but I'm sure it's of high quality. I bought a shock cover from star carbon in Italy and it was of poor quality. Won't do that again. Anyway on top of all else Guido is on this forum, he owns a Pani and is good to do buisness with. MY .02
And I am thinking of selling my DP hugger to upgrade to Shiftech gloss
