Carbon Fibre Parts - CDT

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

I purchased 4 "Glossy" Carbon parts from "Bestem USA" and have been very please with the pricing and quality. No, I don't work for them. The prices are the best and they are shipping from Georgia. Their list of available Carbon parts keep growing for the 1199. I'm going to buy more.

bestem does have good products i have seen them however they are only part carbon fiber. the back is fiberglass. their key guard was very good quality, however i want 100% carbon fiber. Their air ducts wont fit properly. If you are looking for the look of carbon without getting hosed in price bestem is a great choice. If you want full carbon they dont have it. I know their site says they do but not for the 1199.

PS I returned the key guard cause i wanted all my pieces to fit. i got the cdt one in gloss and i am very pleased. Wish it was bestem price though :D

I think you generally go on advice here and price - if it comes in and you don't like it, return it. Examples: Keyguard RC = $109, DP = $199, Exhaust heatshield RC = $131, CDT = $298

rc not full carbon fiber

rc not full carbon fiber

I know mark, but that matters why? We are only buying this for appearance, not a structural component of our bike. I could have said all DP, or all CDT, or whatever, and no one would know. ;)

Yea, I have their exhaust guard for my Beemer, and I can smell the fiberglass when it gets very hot :( But it looks great, as I allow gloss on my Beemer, not being a true "race" bike, and can confidently pull up to my local Starbucks on it without being embarrassed. :p

The back of the BestemUSA pieces I purchased appear to be the backsides of the gloss carbon seen on the front side? I can see the carbon weave. Where is there fiberglass? Maybe I just don't know better.

guys im not bashing bestem. i was impressed with their products and they are a good price point. i asked cause they advertise full or partial carbon. when i returned the air ducts i said give me a list of the full carbon fiber products you have. i quote for the 1199 we dont have anything in full carbon.
Trauma i agree. for me its for looks.

it doesnt matter to me trauma and obviously not to you. However, the guys that are commenting on this thread obviously care. Cali wants nothing but DP. I am pretty sure Gunny would buy nothing but full carbon. As i said previously bestem makes good products at a good price point for a lets call it a different kind of customer (value with good looks).
There is another customer though that wouldnt look at Bestem no matter what price. Does that make bestem inferior not at all, there are many options choose whats best for you.

Yea, they offer both and are up front about it. Ya know, I didn't even know about CF for bikes until this forum. Yea, I like the look, but I loved the look of all my bikes, including the K1300S and Pani, WITHOUT carbon. And now I find there are people that not only require CF, but a specific brand. Like only owning Snapon tools, or... not sure what else :)

Mark, just a correction. Cali wants everything from Ducati Corse & Ducati Performance and then compliments with CDT Elite and Shift-Tech (full carbon) :D The general drift is that Cali wants to get rid of all the black plastic and replace with high quality carbon.

Side note, I can totally understand why folks would want gloss carbon on 1199 to complement them BST Carbon wheels.

I collect SNAP-ON tools.

Sorry Cali I was making the point that some people prefer specific brands. Your preference in carbon is noted and your bikes look fantastic.

I just fitted shift tech key guard, rear hugger and shock guard. This CF is beautiful ( I have the satin finish ) and it fits perfectly. I spent a premium for this bike so I don't skimp on fitting inferior products

I was just sitting here thinking I shouldn't have posted in this thread. I think the main issue is that there is a vast difference in what people consider acceptable carbon. I am like you, Trauma, in that if it looks like carbon fiber and fits on the bike without me doing a whole lot of fiddling around with it then I consider it good. I don't care if it has been autoclaved (I think this may not be as critical as some do) or done in a "seal a meal" bag, as long as it fits and looks ok I am good with it. I think some folks, especially those replacing entire body panels have a much higher expectation as far as finish, durability and fitment than I do. I think that's where the whole "good carbon/bad carbon" discussion goes out the window. It's kind of like discussing jackets with Valentino Rossi and the homeless guy near my office. Rossi would prob go on for hours about technical features of the jacket and why one is better than another, but the homeless guy just wants a jacket since it is cold and rainy out. I'm the carbon fiber homeless guy. :)

Now that is funny. I like your analogy Capt

Sure, here is my order"¦"¦. LOL

I covered my 1198 & Hypermotard in CDT carbon (Gloss). The quality is fantastic. Prices in the UK are very reasonable.

Not seen their 'matt' range though but heard it's just as good quality. it's made in Slovenia and dealers order in small batches to save shipping so can take a few weeks to arrive.

They don't sell direct to the public and don't list their approved dealers either - strange business strategy/
