Carbon Wheels

$2200 for Marchesini Forged Magnesium ..... is that for both wheels?

Motowheels lists them just a bit higher than BSTs. Ditto OZ. Cattiva R is not homologated for road use, according to OZ....race only. Cattiva is considerably heavier than Cattiva R.

I'm using the Cattiva R on my race bike the are light . Real light look a hell of lot better than BST but that's only one mans opinion .

To add to "gunny fitz" nice pics of glossy BST (nice pics btw)

Here is some shots of my BST in "satin finish" to match the DP carbon on the 1199

And a pic to compare with the DP shock protector

BST Wheels:

Front = 5.66lbs (2.57kilo)

Rear = 5.9lbs (2.7kilo)

Whats are the stock 1199-R wheels weights ?

Both, and includes shipping! Either they (OmniaRacing) have a great relationship with Marchesini, or everyone else really marks them up.

Now THIS is worthy of a new thread. Trauma can you post pics of your Marchesini forged mag wheels?

Holy crap that is a great deal. Thanks for the heads-up Trauma. I'm definitely going for the gold forged mags in homage to the previous Ducati "specials" that seemed to always come with gold wheels. Should go nicely with the Bitubo XXF61 Shock and FPS Nitrogen fork cartridges I've got coming from Bellissimoto and sharpen this baby up to scalpel level at the track.

Evol has ordered the gold, they are beautiful, and kinda retro :)

They are here, where I am stilll trying to sell my Base wheels:

Thanks, I don't think my thread subscriptions are working right as I didn't get that reply. I saw you said they weighed 14 lbs, what did the OEM base wheels weigh? I've heard the S wheels are 4.6 lbs lighter than the base. I've got the S wheels already mounted so whichever is lighter is what I'll use for my track set.

I'm definitely going for th gold, all my recent bikes have had black wheels and I'm digging that retro touch on Ducati's most advanced Superbike.

Anyone?

Hi... New to this forum and a current 1199S owner... Just picked up a set of RotoBox wheels from Randy at BelissiMoto... Could not be happier with the service and products I received... Thank You Randy...

I will probably get rid of my BST wheels soon as BST is glorifying Nelson Mandela on their web site while my people are being subjected to a terrible genocide in South Africa and are being denied participation in the labour market by the BEE Act. Nelson Mandela is (was) a driving force behind this. :eek:
We are already at level 6 of the UN Genocide Watch. :eek:

I spent a good while looking over their website and agree they have some nice gear. During my quest for carbon wheels I even emailed BST directly to see if they planned on doing anything new for our unique 1199's and was unfortunately told no. True the 7 spoke design is a bit dated and needs something new to freshen up the look, but not sure what the answer is. Actually I like the gold mag wheel look best but even reading Dymags site they state what BST had told me. These wheels tend to "erode" and oxidize over time and both companies try their best to sell the carbon wheels most.

If Dymag comes out with something smoking hot for the 99 I would even consider swapping out for them if the quality is all the same. No offense to Halen or anyone else who digs it, but I am NOT a fan at all of the matte finish. Think I posted it on another thread. I am getting all stock DP carbon cleared nice and think, and all the Carbonvani stuff in high gloss to match the sweet BST wheels. Just my opinion which means dick. Go Dymag, go Dymag!

oh yes ! glossy it is, gunny ! :)

i'd go dymag..... paddock buzz is not that BST friendly....

MAG is going out as a possibility soon as regulations seem to be excluding them soon... but there is a new type of aluminium wheel coming out that are only 200 grammes heavier but carry that weight at the hub center of the wheel, actually making the rim lighter, so improving on rotating mass...

Can anyone explain why Pro racing, world wide banned CF rims?

That's easy....they're not. Moto GP allows them, but nobody uses them anymore that I know of. Weight savings versus purpose built racing magnsium wheels is nill. They do, however. Use carbon in higher stress, critical applications.......Like brake rotors and frames.

Strength to weight ratio of the material is second to none!
