Out for a ride and low and behold the sky opened up while I was on my 2012 1199 S. Needless to say that I was not a happy camper knowing that the Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP's were on the bike. Well, we made it home, in-tact, a little wet, but intact. The tires held up well and there were zero fish-tails and no loss of traction. I had the bike in WET mode and everything worked the way it was supposed to work!! (I was 35 miles away from home)

the supercorsas are better than the power cups in the wet :D

Are you sure it was rain, or possibly oil being flung by the Harley in front of you?;)

We get it everyday down here in Florida.

Builds character.:)

Not sure us Ducati owners can be saying too much about oil leaks...

agreed, powercups in the rain.. worthless.. though I prefer the cups over the SP's any day of the week in good riding weather
I got caught in the rain a few weeks back.. WET mode is amazing... does all its supposed to do.. obviously if you do something stupid the bike will bite you but ride well and smooth and it does the work

Welcome to the forum!!!

Glad you made it safely home buddy!
I guess keeping it in wet mode made the ride safer for you as traction control and ABS settings are automatically set to most intrusive settings...unless you changed them to your own specs?? Also power detunes to 120hp...which helps in some way.

The awesome world of electronics!

Yea, I was in the same situation about a week ago... Was caught in a huge downpour south of Austin.. Helmet fogged up and couldn't see a damn thing. Seriously scary as hell..

I was actually quite terrified with how the tires would hold up in that much rain.. they did surprisingly very well.

Doesn't mean I want to EVER experience that again.

A few weeks ago I got caught in a very hard rain for about four miles on a very lightly traveled back road. I did not have my rain gear with me, and there was no traffic around. I tucked in a much as I could, and was concerned about my radar detector that is mounted on the steering stem nut. I got to a speed that I felt comfortable with and would hopefully blow the rain past the radar detector and some of me. As I got somewhat comfortable in it I looked down to see that I was cruising at a very nice 93 mph pace!

I would not have wanted to be on a winding road though.

Ive gotten caught in the rain a few times, no big deal! In this 100 degree humid Florida heat, the rain cools me off. I actually enjoy a light sprinkle :D

As long as there's not standing water the SPs and Cups work great. I've been rained on three of the last five times I've been on my Pani, and one other time I didn't get rained on but the roads were still quite wet. All of those on Cups.

Wet asphalt sticks better than most of us give it credit for. Race in the stuff a few times and you'll see just how well. ;)

Rain-X your visors! It works!

Anyway, crix1968, we gotta meet up sometime the next couple weeks.
Enjoy the beautiful weather we've got the next couple days!

Stock tires work fine in the rain. I ride all year in Oregon.
