CCR Panigale Paint Job In Works

Reduced rate? The short answer is no. It makes no sense for me to bust my balls (43 hours of labor for the above bike***) for reduced prices.

If I have two hands and a shop full of bikes I have no incentive to work for reduced pay. It makes no business sense if I can walk over to one side of my shop and work for $75 an hour why would i walk over to the other side of my shop and work for $65, or less. I am a one man show. I am done with trying to hire anyone...99% of the fukkerz out there have no pride in their work.

This is why I do not do "track quality" paint work.

I try to make each customers bike "their own". So I change up designs so as not to duplicate anyones paint job that I have done. Right now i am working on an 1198, the customer saw one of the recent tri-colore Pans i painted and wanted one like it, I said "no". I will design you something similar but I have no desire to replicate something I've already done at least without some slight design changes to set the bikes apart.

*** this customer brought me his bodywork fresh from another paint shop. I do not normally dis other painters in the business, but this was some seriously ...... up paint. He (IMHO) got a $500 paint job for quadruple that price. So I had to basically completely hand strip each piece completely back down to the bare fiberglass....then epoxy prime it and block sand everything back to the point where the substrate was decent enough to begin to paint......about 12 hours or so.....so that's why the hours were racked up in this job.

When I update my web site I will include the testimonial he wrote as well as another email he wrote to me thanking me once again and stating "money well spent".

Alright, fair enough. I simply wanted solid colors with number plates at that quality. Had to take the bullet.

If you can do a simple sketch, a line drawing showing what colors you want where... and email it to me I can give you a quote. The above bike was done to a VERY high level.....completely clear coated.....air cured...then sanded and re-cleared....then sanded with 1500 grit and machine compounded, machine polished and then hand polished.... this is what the customer wanted and this is what he got. It is wayyyyyyyyyyyy past factory showroom OEM paint quality.

I'm guessing you're not looking for a finish like this. No problem. The LEAST you can expect from me would be factory Ducati finish as you would see on the show room floor. Obviously a job done to that lesser degree of pickiness would cost considerably less. I will not complete a job that is below OEM standards of finish.

Sounds legit. I'll find something.

Without sounding like a complete ..., you get a $3000.00 paint job for $3000, you get a $1500 paint job for $1500.

There is no typical paint job but most seem to fall between $1300 -1400 + materials........and the upper end would be $3000.00 although I'm cooking up something nutty now for a customer who wants something a bit more "unusual".

Materials can easily run $300 for quality stuff. I don't buy ...... $80 a gallon CC, my stuff costs well over $200 a gallon with activator.

WOW . Lucky me then .

Regardless, I just want to know what I'm looking at for something similar to what I sent.

Check out HOC "Ultra Orange Pearl" for that orange....it would look bad .......and since it comes in quarts...you'd grab a quart and have enough left over for a .... ton of repairs or at least two complete sets of bodywork.

That would be cool, it's the color from the old muscle cars like the GTO. Me like.

IT would be interesting to use the orange with the white stripes they used back then as inspiration for something...

Hmmm, I'm dating myself here......is that "hugger" orange or "grabber" orange.

If you have an autobody supply store near you that carries the House of Color brand..... check out both
"Ultra Orange Pearl"......as well as "Tangello Pearl".....although I believe the first one closer matched the Camaro.

The ultra orange pearl is what I used on this......

Custom Motorcycle Paint | Connecticut Cycle Refinishing

Big bux for this job.......NO decals....ALL paint...even dup'd the same "69" That nikki has INSIDE all of his numbers on his race bikes.....with prism pearl gold.

That is Hugger Orange lol. As far as our discussion, I'm thinking put that on the RC with a little personal touch. Would be cool to use that effect you do, but with 13 in the stripes.

Sorry, I disagree. You're $1500 job looks like a million bucks....I have to sit 15 feet away from the bike when I'm off the track otherwise I have to constantly answer the same question: "Holy ...., who painted that?"

Jon :)
