Hello everyone.

I just traded my Supersport on a V2 and am marveled at the new bike. The handling and performance is definitely better than the Supersport I traded in.
After reviewing the manual I found no instructions on tightening the chain in the owners manual.

I'd specifically like to learn where the measuring point on the swing arm is and the distance it should measure from the measuring point and the centre of the chain pin.

Thanks in advance.

the sticker on the swingarm shows measuring in front of the fastener for the plastic guard. your datum is from the metal swing arm and not the plastic.

No sticker on my swingarm. It was the managers demo and it likely got washed off with a high pressure wash.
Thanks for posting that photo though. It was helpful.

That's odd, I'm looking at chain tension setup in my 2018 V4S owners manual. There should be a section in the owners manual titled Main use and Maintenance Operations. If you can't find it try the Ducati website. I downloaded the owners manual and saved it as a pdf file. The owner manual that comes with the bike is difficult to read.

the v2manual...

moi interprets the procedure as having the bike upright in neutral, push down on the chain to get the slack on the bottom, set it on the sidestand so it is in the static position then measure. the numbers will vary if the preload was changed or the bike is in a paddock stand.

drive it a few hundred miles to get the initial wear/stretch then measure the slack.

This is correct...push it down...but don’t hold it down. There’s a difference.

yes. with the adjustment, loose is better than tight. too tight will muck up the output bearing.

we will all be pimping the new bmw chain soon or check out the scott oilers if you're not a clean and lube guy.
