Has anyone changed the gearing on their V2?
I’m considering dropping a tooth on the front sprocket.
I don’t need 170mph, but more acceleration and power wheelies are a good thing.
All that said…I find already in 2nd I’m hitting the rev limiter way too often and dropping a tooth would make it worse…or would I be in 3rd by that point?

So yeah…anyone done this?
Thoughts? Observations?

I was thinking of adding two teeth in the rear which matches the SFV2 setup, isn’t as extreme as dropping one in the front, and isn’t as hard on the chain.

Yeah..my reason for dropping a tooth was the original chain wouldn’t need changing…but +2 on the rear would need a longer chain…wouldn't it?

Probably. I put 7,500 on my V2 in one year and expect to do the same during the upcoming season. I’m thinking of doing it at 15,000 miles next winter when the chain and sprockets will be due. I bet the SFV2 rear sprcket and chain will be a direct fit.

I‘m waiting for the owner’s manual to appear on the Ducati website for the SFV2 to see what length chain is spec’d.

Where are you getting your sprockets from? Thinking of adding 2 on rear for track as well. Hoping the stock chain will still work?

I dropped 1 in the front and the bike was much better for me. I have since switched to a quick change setup and have added one tooth in the rear (so down 1 front and up one in the rear - 14/44). Snow on the ground, so I have not ridden the 14/44 setup yet. I have taller gearing I'll switch to for longer tracks, but for the street, I like the punch rather than top speed.

Anyone add 2 teeth to the rear (45)? If so, did it require a longer chain?

Short answer is that I have not yet. I have the 43 (stock size) and 44 for the quick change setup, but I plan on purchasing a 45 and seeing if it fits (they were out of stock). I have a 14/44 installed with a 106-link chain. I have a 108-link chain I can use if needed. My calculations show that a 15/44 and 15/45 will need a 108-link chain (stock is 106), but I have not actually tried them. I will definitely want to adjust the ride height after making these changes.

Did the longer chain allow you to adjust the ride height to stock setting?
Thank you again

My understanding is the chain tension is adjusted via the swingarm eccentric. Which also has an effect on ride height and wheelbase because of the eccentric within a certain range. That’s why I was wondering if going to a longer chain to accommodate the +2 Sprocket kept the ride height and wheelbase within the “Stock” specs.
I’m new to the Ducati Panigale V2 just trying to get a better understanding of how the Single Sided Swingarm works in relation to chain tension and any effects on ride height/ wheel base.
Thanks :)

Ah. Fair enough. No - the +1 on the chain length doesn’t affect where the eccentric adjuster is on its range. The extra link length is taken up around the sprocket.

I adjusted my v2 height with a different linkage.
