I was really impressed with (antihero ??) I think it was anyway he painted the small ducati emblem emboss on his tailpiece.

I scratched the tailpiece on my bike with the buckle of my boots just after I got the bike. Anyway had it repainted recently and so I would use some spare touch up to do what Anti did. Alas it did not come out very well due to my extremely poor painting skills.

Cheap solution. Buy a sticker kit
and presto. Bad painting effort covered up.

Anti scratch

Unless you're 6'7", you're gonna run your boot over your tail piece every so often.

I put The Tankslapper's 3M stuff all over my bike. Now, when my Alpinestars skim across the seat cowl, VOILA! No scratch!

If it looks scratched, I just buff it out with a hand towel and it's back to new. (Also, makes it less painful when my buddies run a boot over it.)

INCIDENTALLY, after reading about all y'alls mishaps with seat cowl flying off into oblivion, after giving it an extra smack with the butt of my hand every time, secretly mocking all the "it just flew off" posts:rolleyes:, sure enough...BYE, BYE SEAT COWL. :(

Guy on a nearby bike waved, and I knew better than to think he was admiring the 1199. NOPE, not a hang loose or a thumbs up...
...a "look back where you're tail piece used to be!" finger point:eek:

So the 3M stuff keeps it from getting scratched... TOO BAD it doesn't keep semi trucks from smashing it to smithereens.
