An all new bike, particularly a Ducati setting the fastest times in any pre-season test session is not a good thing. Checa should have been sandbagging a bit more. Can you say performance restrictions? I bet Honda, BMW and Kawi have already made calls to Ezpeleta.

I think he did sandbag...:D. At the end of the day it's just .1 faster

all ovee

No doubt for me is going to be 2011 all over again Ducati Checa dominates

+1 I think so he is getting really comfortable with the bike. With the best power to weight ratio of any bike out there there shouldn't be any doubt if he is comfortable. As for this bike, it had one thing in mind and one thing only and that is to win WSBK. As for us street riders everything about the bike was secondary but fortunetly it turned out great with some minor hiccups.

Don't you think FIM would start coming up with ways of limiting the bikes performance if it came out gangbusters from the beginning.

Checa is a vet. I think he was playing his cards.

With the top 10 times being .755 seconds apart I don't think restrictions are in order. When one 1199 is on the top and one is on the bottom, rider seems to have more to do with it.

I can see it already..."he's 2/10ths of a second faster! That's not fair!"

Yea that is true but did you also know that this rider has a hematoma on his liver and has pain everytime he turns the bike?

Didn't Checa get the new heat shield memo from Ducati? I think he's gonna need a bigger shield...

Now this is HOT!

It is getting close to race day down here in OZ, so lots of press. I read all the "experts" predications for the 2013 WSBK title today, most are saying Sykes ( Kawi) or Melandri ( BMW ) as the hot favourites, with Laverty ( Aprilia) and Chaz Davies ( BMW) a good chance, and Loris Baz ( Kawi) the dark horse.

For the first round at Philip Island it is unanimous it will be Sykes ( broken wrist and all) or Melandri
With Chaz Davies or Guintoli (Apilia).

No one is giving Ducati a chance, even though Philip Isalnd has been good to Ducati, so lets see. Great to see so much variety though. Bring it on.

Well, considering that the bike is at the beginning of development it's kind of scary for the runner ups....

Having said that, 6kg on top of intake restrictions killed the 1098R last year

How much weight are they putting on the 1199 this year?

I don't know about a weight penalty but it still has to have the 50mm restrictiors in the air intakes, which Domencelli said is making it harder than anticipated to get the power band right on this new engine. Will take some time I guess.

Got some help today.. This is me the pani and some guy called Checa who spent a little time with us today... Got a bit of help from the factory too... Simply awesome...

The track is really good but turn two is still lacking grip... Lost some time today but have a very different set up that the factory boys say will be better... Checa is flying through the back part of the track... Really really fast... Mind blowing..

I need to loose 10kg and get 15 more hp... But simply awesome...
