So I find a sweet deal on my first Ducati, a 1299S
Wow, what a great packaging of power and technology.
but
What the $&#@% can be done to reduce underseat temps!
At speed I can get airflow to be tolerable, barely

Reflective tape bottom of seat pan?
Exhaust wrap pipe just under seat?
tips would be appreciated...

Leathers that have leather around your whole upper leg. The stretch material doesn't deflect much. Pot holders strapped to your leg were a great suggestion and help a ton. Reflective tape on the seat doesn't help much for me. Most of the heat is radiating from the header for me. So my right hammy is most affected.

Peep this video... I haven't tried it myself...but I definitely dig the mod. Give it a go

Lots of people complain about the heat. I just say "try an RSV4"...

Is this a joke ?

Or

You did absolutely no research on this bike before you purchased it.

I have and don't see the similarity. Now I only ride mine on the track but based on exhaust config I don't see how it could feel as hot.

The Pani gets pretty toasty but it does make a difference in the gear you wear while riding. Even wearing leathers with stretch material felt much better than jeans. Overall it wasn't unbearable for me but it effects others differently.

As mentioned there are lots of threads on here regarding ways to attempt to mitigate the heat.

Different methods include:

1) different riding gear
2) wrap exhaust
3) ceramic coat exhaust
4) CF subframe covers
5) if you have the cylinder covers on I thought it felt cooler without them. Looks better too.
6) reflective material under the seat

***DISCLAIMER... the above methods are what have been discussed and posted on this site but I do not know first hand if there is any significant change in temp from any of them.***

It seems some people mention the temps come down when slip ons are added can anyone confirm ?

If they did it wouldn't seem your crotchal region would notice a few degrees difference. I didn't notice any difference but only ride with stick slip-one for 621mi.

The heat helps with sterilization to free up more money for parts and gear.

In terms of heat... I've already foil wrapped the entire under tail and seat area. I plan to do the fan mod here in the next week or so and wrap the exhaust. I've also got subframe carbon pieces in route but they're a little delayed. I expect this to make a somewhat decent difference from everything i've read and watched on YouTube. It certainly hasn't presented itself to be unbearable but getting down in to those Georgia 105 degree days with the sun on me while we're railing 348 or blood mountain will certainly tell me the full story.

Don't fight it Gunny, I'll try and make your ride in the fall.

And if he does... I probably will too. It would be a good time to compare roads we all ride.
