Thanks Mutt1979.

I had to make a quick decision, cause there were others after the R, .

Yea, " others wanted it". That is why they still had a 2013?

In my opinion the dealer tricked you into buying the less desirable bike used bike. Not cool.

I like R and if i buy anything from ducati it'd be R only. if u got money for 15R get 15R but if not then 13R is still a beast.

None of these bikes hold their value well, especially if tracked. Know a guy with a '13R who has close to $50k into it and doubt he would get more than $18k. The mods add no value for most buyers. 40% depreciation in a few years is par for the course, regardless of the model, and yes dealers will lay on all kinds of bs to close a deal, especially if they sense you're in buy mode.

I might add, Ducati loves R buyers - their profit margin is even better

True.

Mods only hold some value IF you can find somebody who would do those exact same mods personally. Which means to him, they hold some value because they will save him a ton of money.

There is about $35k tied up in my R6 and I would be lucky to get $15k for it. It is really the same for all of them. I would take about a $12k hit on the RSV4 also, which is why instead of selling it I put the OEM plastics back on it and returned it to the street.

Are you saying the 2013 1199R is a better bike than the 2015 1299s ?

In my opinion, an R is an R. That's it.

I'm getting it next week, and I can't wait. 177km only, and same price as a brand new 1299S. So I am not going to loose as much value as a brand new 1299S.

its a beautiful bike. u will love it

13 r

I own and race a 2013 R. I have been racing and doing track days a little over a year now. I am super please with it. Only draw back is working on it. It is harder to work on, compared to the japanese bikes. I took off all the oem plastic and tank. I bought race plastic and a different red tank.

I will probably never out ride the Panigale R. This bikes ripes down the straight way. I catch so many people on the straights. I max perform the bike. Red line it pretty hard last week during a race. I turned off the ABS and was lifting the rear wheel off the ground, the slipper clutch is remarkable (I would slam it down two gears from 4th to 2nd and just come out of the corners getting a huge drive. I dominant at starts, I always get the hole shot. I rode and raced an R-1 and R-6 in the past. The R feels like an R-6 but the power of an R-1.

My point here is you can't go wrong with an R.

I was thinking about this thread will trying different settings on the 1299 today and seeing how it performs .
While I like the new electronics they don't offer much more in the real world than the previous model and while the power is great it just didn't rev like the R which I personally like .
I think the the 1299 as a street bike is a great bike but to me not as thrilling to ride as my 13 R .

Did you change your oil at 150 miles? I am waiting on the compression test between your 13 R and 1299 base model.

I think you should sell your base and keep your R.

I have a '13 R. Just took the gf's 1299S for a rip. Still breaking it in..so didn't go nuts. Hit 48 degrees(not a good idea to look at it while cornering). The 1299S is smoother and has more power down low. Steers a little sharper. I say it is an easier bike to ride. Better for normal street riding for average riders. Just takes less out of you. The R is more raw. Revs faster. I say it has more character, which I like. So it all depends what you are looking for. I would almost say the 1299S is boring to ride when compared to the R.

That's exactly my thoughts . The 1299 is s great bike but for the experience the 1199 R is more a exciting ride .
I am going to fit a lightweight flywheel and see if I can liven up top end a little .
I got to say after changing the Pistons and cams in my R it gave it the best of both worlds a motor that feels like something special .

I'm sure the 1299 is nice refined street bike but I love the raw rough edged
power of my 14R, 15R has better ecu pkg but for the money I'd loose trading
up I could buy full Magneti Marelli ECU. SL cams - pistons etc

All this it's faster really is irrelavent who can fully use 195+ on the track let alone on the street, buy the R

If my 13R had DWC (mainly) and Auto-Blip I wouldn't even think of moving up. Im doing good holding out on the 1299S.

But ya I want the 15R !!!
