How do you guys clean the inside of your leather gloves? You cant turn them inside out to sanitize it.

I am thinking about looking for some glove socks or something for my Dainese Scalpel Gloves. Nice gloves BTW.

Knox

Me neither. I just let them get funky and when the funkiness passes a certain point I replace them.

Speaking of that Capt, I just got a set of those Knox Handroid's and they are seriously some sick gloves man! Had to go all the way up to XXL since they size smaller than the norm. My RS Taichi top end gloves are XL and its a toos up which ones feel better. Not into color black much but they just came out w a new black color that is killer compared to older model. What do you use?

Man, but that 200.00 sure can be used for something else on the bike vs ditching a perfectly good pair of gloves that is still function. My next new pair I am going to start using a liner.

I rinse/wash mine out with water real good to get the salts out, let dry slowly (not in heat) then apply leather conditioner inside abs out. I actually use mink oil but leather conditioner is fine as well. Brings any heavily used glove back to 75 percent. I think this is the recommendation from held and a few others for their gloves.

I have used the Lexol leather conditioner on jackets and gloves before (on the outside) with good results. I have a pair of Dainese that I have sewn up two or three times and they are still working fine and aren't too nasty yet.

I don't have any fancy racing gloves like you guys have. Right now I have Dainese Ricochets, Dainese X-iles, some Revit winter gloves (with 2 holes in them) and some Gerbing's heated gloves. I have a pair of BMW gloves somewhere too, but don't wear them since they are a tad on the big side.

I didnt realize you can use soap and get its totally soaked. Anti-bacterial soap is a great idea.

Thanks.

I never thought about it either, but my gloves get soaked in the rain a lot and they seem fine after drying out. Maybe I'll try getting them wet on purpose with some soap next time. :)

I just bought a new set of "Five" gloves and, as Gunny experienced with Knox, had to go up a size to XXXL to fit my massive mitts. Can't say much for comfort, yet, over the long haul, but the thumb pocket (where most gloves fit me WAYYYYYY too tight) feels excellent and the construction quality is darned nice.

As to cleaning, Anthem hit the nail on the head. Warm water, a slow dry indoors in an air conditioned environment, and a good leather conditioning agent. Keeps 'em nice and supple and feeling fine. I haven't tried this with kangaroo leather, but I know it works with cow hide.

Works fine for kangaroo as well. . I have Held Titans and previously phantoms and it works fine on both. . . Though I usually don't do it often as I like new pairs of gloves as well :). . .

Knox handroids are decent gloves. I just don't really like them but have seen others go down in them. . I like Dainese the brand, but not any of their gloves. .. I find their GP Metal gloves to be of questionable quality. . It's the only $300+ glove that seems to have stitching problems (fingers) from just about every single person that owns them. . Seriously - how hard is it to get your top of the line glove stitched so it doesn't a) fray and b) come lose. ..

Agreed, Anthem. I literally tossed a Dainese glove down the crapper recently, and I'll never buy another set. Poor quality. Mediocre fit. Lesson learned.

The new "Five" gloves were only around $200, though! A friend who runs another shop (Speedin' Motorsports in Farmington, NM if you're looking for a new spot to try.... Welcome to Speedin' Motorsports - ) and provides trackside support at SMRI, MMRA, and other events pimps 'em and I thought I'd give 'em a try. The price is right and the quality is excellent from my so far limited exposure.

Hand wash in a solution of Leather Therapy wash, and rinse with a solution of Leather Therapy rinse/conditioner. Then let air dry with some more rinse/conditioner. No different than doing laundry on a piece of fine textile. Leather Therapy folks, gets the stench out/ prevents mold and mildew, and refreshes the leather. Also, between rides, don't put away a sweat soaked piece of kit, instead, always put it to dry in a well vented area or else you will get mold and mildew real fast!

When I want to get the stink out of the gloves, I put them in the freezer overnight. It keeps the smell away for another ride or two. I just recently got caught in a downpour, so they received a thorough washing inside and out with warm water and leather conditioner. Hopefully it works well, since I didn't use soap.
