Just thought I'd share my experience with everyone here and see if we could gather any good data from club racing the Panigale's. I recently purchased a Panigale R race bike and got a chance to ride it for my first time this weekend with AHRMA at Roebling Road.

The bike is fantastic. I've been racing for several years, started on 600's, rode an SV for a bit, then followed my heart and bought an 848. After getting tired of getting demolished on the straights I upgraded to an 1198S and was racing that up until this weekend.

This was my first race weekend since the middle of last summer, first time ever riding a Panigale, and first weekend on Michelin tires, so lots of chaos, but it turned out well. The weather was beautiful, and I managed to set a new personal best lap at Roebling along with a 4th/2nd and on Saturday and 2nd/2nd on Sunday.

I don't have any pictures of the bike on track from the weekend yet, but here she is in race form. I bought the bike with the current paint job, it may be changing in the near future. (soooo many red Ducati's, I'd prefer something a little more unique)

I ran a 1:16.4 on the Panigale, but I've ran a 1:20 on an SV, so I've got some work to do putting that horsepower to the ground. :D

Congrats, nice finishes. Esp. considering it's a completely new bike for you. I'll +1 Phil's comment, black looks just plain evil.

not many are faster on a PANI over a 1198 right out of the crate . Well done!
anything changed over the R apart from the fairings?

That looks like Joel's bike with the Matt Carr built motor and bazzaz tuner and superstock manifold :) looks great!

Did you try it with pump or mr12 fuel ?

nice! i only managed to get a 1:20 but that was only in my 2nd (and last) session. curios what i will run on the SV.

awesome bike you got there.

for finding your taste, why not just buy some cans of plasti-dip and see what it looks like??? peels off right away...

I tried to plasti dip my wheels on my z06 black and spent at least 4 hrs doing it right and when it was done it looked like something for a civic or honda, not a 200mph car.

Plasti dip doesnt belong on the pinnacle of motorcycling

You do realise a civic is a Honda....

That it is. And I was running pump fuel, hp is not my main concern at this point. :)

YaYa I recall the last time you rode a new bike. :D Congrats on a great new bike . So much better......Let me know if you want to do something cool to the bodywork . Hope to see ya this season

The Panigale does handle so much better, you racing one now? I see they repaved VIR, I might need to make it back this year.

Yep we built one last season. I only rode it a few times. But was two seconds faster at VIR on the second day with out pushing. Should be good there this season . :D
