Clutch recall

Not sure if this is out there yet. My clutch went soft on the weekend (thank god for quick shift). I took it in this morning to have it bled to remove the air and my dealer informed me that received notification Friday of a recall for the clutch.

Lol, this bike is gonna blow away the 1199 with the amount of recalls it will receive.



Yeah, it would be nice if they could just get them all done at once [emoji39]. I've had the gas tank recalls done, I'm waiting on parts for the radiator and now the clutch one.

i might be out of line here but same thing happened to 1199 and it was never recalled, no? i have to touch my clutch every month or so and it only takes 2 minutes but it feels so much better.

My 1199 had to go in 3 time for the clutch in 2k miles leaking and plates never got a recall. But they did recall the melting fairings only to have them melt by the time I got home from the recall being done lol.

What is the clutch recall for. Just received a call from the dealer about this. The caller did not know exactly what would be done.
 
Mine has developed a lot of free play in the lever and the friction zone is moving closer and closer to the maximum pulled point of the lever. My lever is adjusted all the way out now, hopefully the recall parts come in before it becomes useless.
 
Here's something that might help the symptoms before a robust fix comes out. My Monster 1200S used to get a bit of air in the clutch circuit, mostly correlated with long hard romps on very hot days. The clutch lever would become so mushy that I almost couldn't disengage while stopped sometimes.

But the fix is easy: Unscrew the clutch lever bleeder nut just a bit, like 1/4 or 1/2 turn. Then VERY SLOWLY pull in the clutch lever. Watch the bleeder hose hole and at the first glint of liquid, close the nut. Then bingo, a firm lever again.

Give it a try if you're in a pinch.

Thanks for this friend. Took all the slop out of my clutch. I noticed in dashcam video on the track that during hard braking, the clutch fluid rolls all the way forward in the reservoir and exposes the hose hole to air. I figure on the street, braking and pulling in the clutch at the same time could be sucking air into the system if the fluid rolls forward enough.
 
ah, shades of the 2004 Aprilia RSV1000 I had, that needed a clutch bleed at least once a week or so. Be glad your rear brake works.....
