Ok so I've gotten different answers on this from people on here and from CW... I'm trying to figure out if this FE works with the rear passenger pegs and the current heat shield installed. CW tells me no, some people on here say yes, and others say no.

I have searched like crazy and haven't been able to find a definitive answer. I could've sworn I saw someone on here with this fender eliminator and the rear pegs but now when I search I can't find it.

I guess I'm hoping for a pic to settle this for me...

i asked comp werks the same thing. the answer was you could make it work. so yes it can. may i make a suggestion though. i am in nyc and you are in chicago. i dont know about by you but here cops are looking to bust balls of a flashy loud bike. i didnt think of that my dealer said it to me. he said think about it do you want to be harassed over this all the time. i said no. i went with std and its great. just a thought.

Awesome! Thanks for the link. That definitely answers my question.

"Searched" here?

And yes. Apparently not good enough though. Haha. It always amazes me how not trusting people are on forums when someone says they searched. People do tend to miss things...

Yea WE like to bust balls on flashy bikes here too. Lol. ;-) But it's usually the ones doing something really wrong or purposely trying to obstruct their plates that get the major attention. Actually this placement isn't illegal in Illinois. As long as the plate is horizontal, on the back of the bike, has a white plate light, and isn't modified as to obstruct the plate it's all good.

not for nothing, but have you considered "passenger weight" when riding? Im not saying that you carry moby ...., im just trying to point out that when carring passenger the rear suspension is moving alot more than when your solo. are yoiu going to bend the plate out? regardless of adding new heatshield you may want to rethink your tail modification.

Yea I've been tossing around the idea of different possibilities. As for passenger weight I'm not too worried. The other half weighs about 110, so no big problem there.

And as for the new heat shield I'm waiting to talk to my dealer when they come in about size an fitting. I want to check and see if the side heat shields (near my inner thigh when I'm riding) can be installed separately.

I also read on a different Ducati forum CW offers a part which gives the ability to interchange between the Standard and the LTD license plate position. Not sure if that's true or not because I would just get that part and I think it would solve my dilemma. I'm waiting to put a call into CW...

You missed my point, it doesn't matter if she weighs, 110, 85, 200, 500, 115, the point is, think of it like a diving board. where the driver sits this is your pivot point and the end which is, lets call it spongy, flexes, driving down the road you'll have flex, so by adding extra weight are you creating a potential problem by the flexing of the subframe to the top of the rear tire hiugger with the plate mounted right there, not to mention the new heat shield. or do without the heat shield, Ducati isn't saying that you have to do it.

I understood. My point was flex isn't going to be as much with a lighter person than with a larger person during regular riding. But if a major flex is requried (for whatever conditions) than i could definitely see a problem. This is all stuff I've thought about though for sure. I do appreciate the input. My curiosity is peaked though when I see a bike (like in the link above) that has this done. Because I wonder if those bikes/riders experience any problems.

This is basically why I'm curious as to the interchangeable positioning question. I honestly don't like the standard but if the LTD will not work with a passenger, which isn't too often, than I will just move the plate (depending on the amount of work.

Good luck to you bro, did you ask the guy that did the modification, see what he says. IMHO i thnk you have too much flexing regardless > Load = weight/area or P=F/A i still think unless you stiffen the rear you'll get almost some touching of the subframe and tire hugger.

hope it works out for you

I sent him a message but nothing back as of yet.

I just talked to CW and the guy I spoke to insisted they found this isn't an issue when they tested the bike with the FE. He said if there ever is that much flex the last thing I'm going to be worrie about is the plate causing an obstruction because it will definitely get dumped (knock on wood that doesn't happen).

But he also told me other than the plate brackets themselves the FE parts are the same for the standard and LTD. He said for $30 I can buy the standard's plate braket and can change them when a passenger is on if I was concerned. He said it would be a 30 min change (if that) back and forth.

I'll probably order that after I get the LTD in if I feel it's an issue.
