Hi guys,
As the post states I’m considering purchasing an 2016 1199r with 8000 miles with bst wheels. I’d like to know what issues I might be looking at and what would be a fair price. Should I look at a 1199/1299s for a better buy instead?
Ps
I’m also looking into the new s1000rr M+ This is just a round table discussion. I hope to get different opinions.

Do a search, plenty of threads on the subject. The short version is go for a ride and buy what you like.

I’m sorry if it’s an old topic. Please direct me to previous threads if they exist. I’m just looking for some opinions. I’m trading in an 848 race bike and a 05 Mv Agusta f4.

No worries, its just that it comes down to what you like. If it price driven then your options are less but if its bike driven just go for a ride and pick one. You cant go wrong with either choice but this is a Ducati forum....

BMW all the way

At the end of the day, buy the one you like. On paper the BMW is probably more bike for the $$$ but does not light the inner fire like the Ducati does. In my opinion anyway.

Take the Ducati for passion, take the BMW for precision and if you really want to have fun, buy something older from Ducati

Had both 1199S and 1299S. While they appear similar, the 1299S is greatly upgraded. I liked the 1199S’ tail section-the cowl comes off and the seat goes on. The 1299S tail comes off/goes on in pieces.

The 1299S is greatly upgraded. The exhaust cans on the 1299S also seem to be more inline with the bottom of the lower fairings. Everything on the 1299S is automated, whereas the 1199S offered clutch less up shifting only, if I remember correctly.

I personally purchased the 1199S, because I didn’t think there was much of a difference, but the 1299S offers much more.

Hope this helped and good luck.

Thanks for the responses guys. Keep em coming. I’m starting to eliminate the 1199s. Looks like it’s 1299s or Panigale R or BMW. What would be a fair price for a 2016 Pani R, with 8kmikes?

16R most awarded bike to never win a championship

The one you are looking at has 8k miles on it...

You better either be filthy rich or very handy with a wrench : )

Haha. I take it that the 16R has a bad reliability reputation ?

It’s a pretty racey version of the superquatro

It’s meant to be raced and race motors require frequent rebuilds

As Don Said the R is a race motor, I run one in a competitive race series.
You can get just as much joy from a 1199 or 1299 S or base.
Yes the R has lighter this and that's but really, will you notice it bopping around on the street absolutely not.
The forged rims - Aluminum tank - titanium con rods and such - full Ohlin's NX suspension - all not needed for street bopping or "canyon carving"
At race pace, yes you may notice it (depending on your level or riding)
Save yourself 5-8K and ditch the idea of an R.

Thanks guys. That might be what I ultimately decide. But for argument sake. What would be a fair price for a 16R with 8k miles?

Nah, 15k is a bit low but realistically, probably in the high teens. Maybe 18 or 19k even with bst wheels since aftermarket parts don't really add any kinda value on a used bike. I'd be more concerned on the 8k miles on an R motor. Doesn't mean it's due to blow up or nothing but they do need to be taken care or more frequently.

At 3k I did valve check already on my R.
It will get one again at end of season.
These are highly strung engines that need to be looked out after.
Need to be run hard.
They are meant to be on a track, i wouldnt worry about mileage as long as its looked out after. 25k is WAY too much.
Max you should be paying for a bike with 8k on it is 18.
25 he smokes meth
