Hi guys,
I saw some coolant on the floor near the side stand, so I removed the left fairing and inspect it, trace the leak up to right in the middle of the two cylinders, does someone know what this means?
thanks

I looked in the parts book and the water pump is in the motor in that area. There is probably a shaft seal drain hole there between the cylinders so if the water pump seal goes bad it leaks out so not to contaminate the oil in the engine. Also cause of the location of the water pump the coolant lines connect in between the cylinders and maybe the clamps that Ducati uses aren't tight enough. Let us know what you find out.

i sent the pic to the dealer, they said it is the high pressure release hole, i will bring it to the dealer and have it checked
thanks

I have oil coming out of that hole. Am taking it to the dealer to document and get DNA involved. It looks to me like some kind of relief valve. Why it is puking oil is a mystery.

that's not gud if it is oil, i will land on the exhaust below...and potentially will catch fire!

That is how I initially found the leak, it was running down the exhaust can.

Not to worried about it catching fire. It is highly unlikely that it will catch fire because of engine oil. I have been working around cars and motorcycles a long time and have never even heard of that happening. The flash point of engine oil is 428 degrees fahrenheit. A lot of other stuff would catch fire well before that.

Certainly make sense to me would one use a substance as engine oil that catches fire easily, since it is meant to be in an engine where is always hot while running.

Come back from the dealer, the dripping fluid was in fact oil, my tech said if this happen again, he would have to take the engine apart and reseal it...he also said it should not be a big concern right now, im keeping a eye on this, to see if it happens again

i continue to have oil dripping out of this pressure release hole. looks like another visit to the dealer is needed
has anyone else had this issue?

I had oil leaking from a crankcase breather pipe in that area, the clip that was factory fitted was too big and had never tightened up properly. Clic-clip style. I cleaned up oil, fitted a threaded type hose clamp, got that tight and no more leak.

Ducati is replacing my engine because of this issue. They are aware of the problem obviously because it took about a day after my dealer submitted the claim to get an answer back. Hopefully the new engine will have better luck.

Not sure why your dealer would tell you they would pull it apart and reseal it since it is not up to them.

Mine is in the shop now for coolant leaking from the left bottom fairing. Had the bike for only one day and it ended up being in the shop, but I still love that bike. Duckyduc and news on whats happened on your bike?
